17 May 2001: Fourth Disney Day and it was EE at Magic Kingdom

Trip information: Me?Sandy (38); My Husband?Tim (50), My nephew?Michael (8). This is my second trip (1991 and 1996), Tim?s second trip (1982 and 1991) and Michael?s first trip.

It was 6:00 a.m. in the morning and Mickey greeted us with a cheerful hello. It was the first morning since we arrived that all of us felt good. My poor Tim was on the road to recovery and got up for our EE day at Magic Kingdom.

By now the routine for breakfast was familiar, go to the concierge lounge and then catch the bus for the park. We got on the bus at 7:30 and within 30 minutes we were at the front gate. This was better than our previous transportation experiences and I for one was grateful because all these taxi rides were getting expensive.

For any of you that doubt the benefits of getting to the park early for the EE days, I hope to let you know this is the best decision that we made during the trip. We were able to go on Space Mountain twice, Buzz Lightyear twice, AstroOrbiter once, and Splash and Thunder Mountain twice all before 10:30 a.m.

Now by now, my feet were hurting. While Tim recovered from his queasiness, I was experiencing blister hell. I cannot believe that with all the walking I have done in these shoes that a simple change in inserts could kill my feet, but they did. Even though I hobbled, I did it quickly as we went from one ride to another.

After doing all the biggies, we headed to Pirates and got a Fast Pass for Jungle Cruise. We enjoyed Adventureland. It is funny, but even though these are the same rides at Disneyland, it just feels different in Disney World. After doing a bit of shopping for appropriate pirate attire for my eight-year-old nephew, we headed out of the park for a much needed rest and a delightful lunch at the Grand Floridian.

We ate at the GF Café and I had one of the best cobb salads ever. Both Michael and Tim were happy with their meals as well. We did have a little sad event, however. It was at the Grand Floridian that I realized that my camera was broken, luckily we had another one, but it wasn?t as good (no zoom).

Before leaving the Grand Floridian, we sought out the Penny and Quarter machines. We have been looking for them throughout the parks and resorts and it was one of the most fun things for Michael, outside of looking for hidden Mickeys. It is funny what amuses kids sometimes, it isn?t always the big stuff or the flashy stuff, but just the little things like pressed pennies.

After lunch we went back to Magic Kingdom and Michael insisted on riding Dumbo. Now, you would think that in 95-degree heat with thick smoke from a wild fire that the boy wouldn?t want to wait in a 45-minute line, but no he did. The interesting thing is that he was complaining because he actually had to wait (we really didn?t have any major lines up until now) and that he loudly proclaimed that Disney should get Fast Pass for this thing.

Well the good thing is that my wonderful husband went and got Michael and ice cream and that satisfied as we waited. Tim was in no mood to ride a puke ride like Dumbo and therefore Michael and I were on our own. After Dumbo, we went to Winny the Pooh, the Tea Cups, the Auto races, and Peter Pan before heading back to our hotel at about 5:00.

We had a wonderful swim in the pool. Stormalong Bay is a water park in and of itself. Meandering over 3 acres, it has a slide, a current pool, little geysers, and even quicksand. What a way to relax before dinner at Cape May.

For those of you who haven?t been to Cape May, it has a wonderful Clam Bake and Seafood Bar. The children?s selection has a lot of variety and it that combined with the steamed clams and mussels and peel and eat shrimp on the adult menu, made for one satisfying meal. We went back to the room early, Michael did some homework and then topped off our evening having desserts and cordials at the concierge lounge.

The next day was MGM and the Rock n Roller Coaster.

I'm glad everyone is feeling better. Seems like yall had a good day except for your camera.
