There will be eight of us ( 4 adults and 4 kids) in WDW for six days. We will be eating off site a lot. (But we must take in Boma (mmm) and perhaps one other Disney restaurant.)

Is it worth buying the Entertainment Book for the restaurant coupons? Which ones have you used? We will not be using it for hotels (using Priceline) or car rental, so my hubby doesn't think we will use it enough.

We couldn't find a resturant that is to our liking or near the theme parks in it, they all seem to be down town or remote from tourists lodging.
But there are free coupon books that you will find at entrances to supermarkets or discount stores like walmart, target, Kmart that has coupons to most resturants and buffets around the tourist areas, and they are good $ discounts off, where the entertainment book offer free appetisers or free deserts and such but not $ discounts.
It is not worth it.

Keep this in mind, your entertainment card will work in Orlando even if the book is for YOUR area. So, my suggestion would be to buy one for your area, if you so desire, and find out which restaurants you would like to visit in Orlando. They will punch that rest. # on your card and you will not be able to visit that rest. # in your area.

Using the card once or twice, or any coupons in the book, will pay for the membership. The Swan and Dolphin also give Entertainment discounts.

I purchase an Entertainment book yearly. If we only use it at two or three restaurants, we have saved money.

:teeth:

I've looked on the website- something like entertainmentbook.com or close to that, and I can't seem to find a listing of what the discounts are, and where they are too...I don't want to buy something and find out it is of no use to me...am I missing a link somewhere??

thanks
Brandy

YOU CAN USE 32792 AS THE ZIP TO CHECK OUT THE ORLANDO AREA OFFERS.

you are willing to go to the following restaurants:

Planet Hollywood - $5 off for spending $20. This is for eating or merchandise. Located in Downtown Disney. Good for lunch or dinner.

All Star Official Cafe - Up to $12 off. Good for lunch or dinner. Located in Disney's Wide World of Sports. This place is not open everyday and it has private party at times.

Pebbles - Up to $15 off. Good for lunch or dinner. Located in the Lake Buena Vista Mall just outside of Disney proper.

Seito Japanes Restaurant - Up to $19 off. Located in Celebration.
Good for dinner or lunch.

Trattoria del Porto - Up to $16 off. This is located in the Portofino Bay Hotel which is a Universal on-site resort.

There'a Bennigan's coupon which is good at a few locations and one is pretty close to Disney. Also, there are some good deals on miniature golf. Wonder Works which is another attraction in Orlando offers a coupon. We use a few more coupons that are near Universal Studios, too.

We stay at the Swan and it saves us on resort costs. Also, we drive down and usually stay overnight at a resort we can get a coupon deal from the book.

You won't save a bundle but I do come out ahead; so, it's worth it for us. The book probably pays off better if you are a Floridian.

We were down for 2 weeks in 2003 and ate at the following places:
Jungle Jims (saved around $8)
Bennigan's (saved around $8)
Pebbles (saved around $12)
All Star Cafe (saved around $8)
Marble Slab Creamery (saved around $3.50)

Our total savings was around $40. We paid $15 for the book plus $5 shipping, so we wound up saving $20. Not the greatest savings, but $20 is $20.

Beatnik

Unless I am reading wrong, Beatnik (above) saved 20. I just skimmed the post, though, so I may have missed something.

Regardless, I bought the book intending on using a few offers, only ended up using Baskervilles buy 1 get 1 entree. We used in on their seafood buffet our first night in WDW and enjoyed it! That offset what we paid for the book. I believe there are other coupons & offers for rental cars, etc, so that might add to your savings.

AGAIN, remember you can buy the book for Orlando or for your area. The card can be used anyplace, you just have to know where the card would be good, which may determine which book you buy. The card gets punched. So, if you use the corresponding number in Orlando to a corresponding number in your area, you can not use the same number in both places. The coupons would be city (area) specific, so whichever place you would use more would be best. There are also flight rebates, hotel rebates, music, movie and other rebates that can be used ANYPLACE.

While the entertainment card is good anywhere, the coupons in the book are only usually good in your area. So it's really the coupons that I think people are looking for when they're looking into books for other areas.

That said, Entertainment now offers a monthly online membership. I think it's $3.95 currently. You can join a different area for a month, print off just the coupons you want or think you'll use. I think these are only good for 2 weeks after printing, so make sure you print them close to when you leave. This way, you've got the coupons you want, you're not paying for the whole books that you probably won't use, and it really only takes one coupon to cover the fee for the month.

Now, I haven't tried this yet myself, so I don't know how easy it is to join just for a month and then cancel. But from what I've read on the site, it should be possible to use their online membership like this.

Mur!

I also think there is a free trial membership, I haven't checked into it yet but I think they let you print off some coupons.

Boy what a killer I was unaware I could use my entertainment card from my area in Orlando area.
However, I did use the free Orlando Magic card which was well worth it (ha Ha) we saved 5.00 per person at Samba Room and got a free apatizer at Timpani both on Sandlake Road not far from I drive. The total savings for a free card used at places we had already planned on going was around 54.00 for three people. You can use the Orlando Magic card over and over too not like Entertainment and it is FREE!!! Just go to Orlando Magic .com and they will send you one.
