What are the best dinner shows outside of Disney?

We've done the Disney shows and the Dixie Stampede (although in Tennessee). I would love any and all opinions.

Is there a comedy one that would be suitable for families? My kids are 14 & 11...not exactly babies...but there are some jokes I just don't want to share with my kids if you know what I mean!! But I'm not limiting it to comedies....I would be interested in all types.

We did the magic/comedy show dinner show at Wonderworks about 2 years ago. The dinner part was just pizza and so-so. The magic was very little. BUT the 2 "magicians" were hysterical. It's advertsied as a comedy/magic show. It was very family oriented too.

I don't know how much comedy is involved, but there's the Pirate's Dinner Adventure.

I have a group planning to attend the opening night in California. It looks like a lot of fun, and definitely family friendly.

Another vote for WonderWorks. I believe it's called "The Outta Control Magic Show." We did this in May and I was chosen to assist with a trick on stage. DD9 loved it and we thought the pizza was pretty good. It was all-you-can-eat and free refills on drinks (soda and beer) too. Very, very funny.

We also did Sleuth's in May and enjoyed that very much as well. It was more expensive though. The food was just so-so, but the murder-mystery was very interactive and fun. The actors ad-lib very well. There are many shows to choose from and they are all different murder-mysteries.

Next trip in March, I'd like to try Arabian Nights or Pirate's. We've done Dixie Stampede here in TN many times. We've also been to Medieval Times in other cities.

Would anyone like to share experiences with either one? DD is 10 now and loves pirates and horses!

I have done dixie stampede, pirate and medieval times. I have also done the luau at seaworld. Luau was terrible because it was inside and it was very boring. I liked the other three. my ds really loved medieval and we have done this one twice. If I had a choice I would pick the pirate show. When I went a few years back, they allowed the kids to come up and participate.

We did Arabian Nights this year. The show was very good. If you like horses then go! The food was not top notch, but it also was not bad. Prime rib, chicken, salad etc. The drinks are included both soft and beer. We paid extra ( as we got free tickets with our park tickets) to sit at the front, which I would do again but only if I had not paid for the tickets. All the seats seemed fine.
We enjoyed ourselves.

We have done both medivel times and pirates. I would say for the older kids especially boys the Pirate one had my kids more amazed. We thought the food was plentiful ( we are not picky) the crowd interaction was great. I think you can't go wrong with any either one. My kids are a little younger but both held their attention pretty well. We plan on doing Arabian Nights when we go for our May trip.

My family did the Murder Watch Mystery Dinner Theatre. Both my wife and I were selected to participate as "witnesses" to the murder, which neither of us saw. It wasn’t all it was cracked up to be, as we were required to go into "protective custody", that meant we spent a good 15 minutes on the other side of the restaurant away from our 3 kids. Our youngest (DD 5) was getting a little freaked out about that. It was O.K. not one I'd do again anytime soon though.

We also did Medieval Times, which is really good; I'd do that again or more likely try the pirate one.

I'm local and have been to Pirates, Medieval, Arabian Knights and Dixie Stampede.

Arabian Knights is good....but the facility is looking a bit run down....

Pirates was just okay.....
Medieval Times is good...

But my favorite by far is Dixie STampede....best food, best entertainment, and CLEAN facility....and you can pet the horses in the stable afterwards!
