I received our luggage labels for the Magic Express today.

We are flying Toronto to Orlando on Westjet. We go through US Immigration and Customs at Toronto Airport.

The last time we were at the Orlando Airport, we had to pick up our luggage, put on a conveyor, we took a tram, walk through airport, then went downstairs to pick up our luggage to take to the bus (when you paid for the bus to Disney).

We are called International Travellers.

I have not decided if I will use the baggage labels yet. If I use the labels, do I walk off the plane and go directly to the bus and Disney baggage handlers look after the luggage. If I decide to take the luggage to bus myself, do I take the tram, go downstairs and pick up luggage and go to the bus.

last august when we used DME flying from calgary to MCO we put the DME tags on our luggage at our home airport and on arrival in orlando all we did was have to go to the bus check in and get on the bus to our resort. our luggage showed up a few hours later. The only difference was on the flights back as we had to check our luggage ourselves at MCO rather than DME checking it for us and then picked them up in calgary.

Just a little side note though it does take a few hours to get the luggage so if you're wanting to swim when you get to the resort pack your suits in your carry ons!

Hope that helps! have a good trip

Allie

That is the one advantage to clearing customs in Toronto. You put the label on, drop it off and you see it again when they deliver it to your room. We must of got lucky as we got all 10 pieces of our luggage within the first hour of arrival.:scared1:

::yes:: That is the joy of DME! Kiss 'em goodbye until they arrive in the hotel while you are eating (saw mine go by at POP), out in the parks, or shopping. The caveat of carrying a change of clothes/swimsuits etc in your carry on goes whether you use DME or not. Only 5 weeks until I'm using it myself! :jumping3:

When flying WestJet from Toronto - Orlando you will clear US Customs in Toronto, so once you get off the plane you can go right to the Magical Express check-in desk.

So is there any difference with the ME procedure if we're flying with Southwest from Buffalo? First time for us too. Thanks

If you've already cleared customs, you do not have to get your bags in Orlando if you placed the ME tags on your luggage. Just get off the plane and head directly to the ME desk to check-in.

So photolover you will have cleared customs when you entered the US, just make sure you place the ME tags on your luggage and check-in at the desk.

Southwest is not one of the airlines linked in to the DME. I took Southwest from Buffalo at the end of March and I had to get my own bag from the carousel and cart it off to the DME desk. They took it from there.

I recommend to anyone using the DME to check the DME site and verify that the airline you are flying on has an agreement with the DME for them to take your bags.

I'm flying in this November on Delta, so I believe I don't have to make my way to the carousel this time, but I will double check before I leave. Flying Southwest back to Buffalo so I will carry my bags to the bus then.

There is no difference when flying into Orlando International Airport because anyone staying onsite can use Disney's Magical Express and have their bags sent to their room 3 hours later. The difference is when flying home. Only with the participating airlines which are American Airlines Continental, Delta, JetBlue, United/Ted, Northwest, Alaska Airlines and AirTran Airways is where guests can check-in at their Resort, get their bags taged, get their boarding passes, so when they arrive at the airport they can go right threw security and to their gate. On non participating airlines like WestJet and Southwest you can still ride the bus back to Orlando International Airport, however you need to check-in with your flight at the ticket counter in the airport. Of course if you are able to get on a computer 24 hours before your flight can still print your boarding passes, however you will still need to get your bags tagged at the airport at the ticket desk before going threw security and to the gate.

When we fly SWA from Buffalo we just put the tags on our suitcases and they arrive delivered to our room.

When we come home we have to take our luggage to the bus and it goes underneath. When we get to the airport we just get our luggage from under the bus and check in with SWA.
