Realize not everybody's experience the same but for my 5:30PM flight today out of MCO arrived at airport and was let off at the curb at 4:15. By 4:25 I was through security. No line at security at all.

Make sure if possible get boarding pass printed before you get to airport. With the eticket baggage check-in just walked up to counter, scan ticket, airline employee printed out baggage claim tag and my receipt and that was it, took 2 minutes. At the regular check-in line there were maybe 15-20 people, I had no wait.

Similar reports for MCO over on flyertalk.com.

I suspect that more people are checking luggage = fewer carryons = fewer kitchen sinks = less time to clear people through security

Good Point!

Don't know if this made some difference, and maybe been like this for awhile, but the the security people who checked my ticket and photo ID before got my bag run through machine were not TSA, had some other security firm name on shirt. The baggage checkers running machines, however, were TSA.

The people checking your ticket and ID are a private firm and not TSA as you confirmed.

Thats great news...nothing worse than standing in any line at the airport for hours on end!
