Original Scotland Itinerary

Before we arrived at the Callanish Stones, our tour guide called ahead to ask the folks at the visitor's center to save some tables for us at the little cafe there, because sometimes the big buses come and fill it up. When we arrived there was a motor coach from a cruise line just pulling into the parking lot ahead of us. We're thinking oh no there's going to be a big crowd. And then a little gray haired couple got off the huge bus followed by nobody. Very big bus for two people. There were very few people there until just shortly before we left when another motor coach showed up with more people . We also met a few of the big buses on those tiny roads. Glad I wasn't driving! Maybe it was the time of year. We were there in August. We also visited some places where we were the only ones there.
My trip was the very end of August/beginning of September. Maybe we were on the shoulder season that point. We saw other people, but no big buses that I recall, and no large groups of others.

On the Isle of Lewis? Interesting, because we didn't see any other tours while we were there. Hmmm. Yes, maybe they complain about everything!

We were there on the 4th of July, and sang the national anthem as a group at the restaurant where we had lunch. It was impromptu and moving for us-- maybe not so much for them?! Anyway we loved the original itinerary-- even if we didn't get into the Queen's castle as she was in residence! (And we did the retired royal Yacht on our own-- very cool tour!).
