I was just reading through a 15-page discussion on here about the perks being taken away on resale, and there was a lot of talk about if DVC makes money on annual dues or not.

Does anyone remember a few years ago, maybe around 2010, getting a check in the mail from DVC? It was for $100 and change if I remember right. At the time I understood that it was a refund on the annual dues which had been over-charged. I know I didn't dream getting that check but may have been wrong on what it was for.

Reading all the back and forth on if they make money or not made me think of that check. Does anyone remember it and what it was for?

We have been BCV membesr since 2002, don't recall getting a check. We have had refunds to the dues, but they just applied that to the next years dues.

We owned BCV at that time and did not receive a check.

And it happens at all the resorts since the dues have estimated taxes and they true it up on the next years dues. Of course some years it requires putting in a little more.

Sure it wasn't an accidental double charge on your card that was refunded or something like that?

I suppose there could be some legal language that if they overcharged for dues and you were owed an amount higher than X ($100) then you would be refunded, all others with less would have it go towards next year's dues.

Well thanks guys. I should have paid more attention at the time. For once they were sending me money instead of taking that monthly $75 out of my account. I remember the glee when I opened it and probably ran all the way to the bank.

Though I do not own at BCV, I have been an owner for almost 20 years, and have never seen or heard of a refund on annual dues. There have been several times when dues were a little over or under the estimate at the end of the year, always due to actual property taxes being more or less than estimated, and every time that occurred, the adjustment was made as part of the next years dues.

How many points do you own? Have you ever sold a contract? Did this check arrive shortly (within a year) after your purchase?

No checks for me either and I've owned at BCV since opening.
