Friday tru Sunday will be really bad.

Oregon's 101 coastal highway is a mess there is Flooding, Snow, Icey ice!!

Sharp turns, S curves, the worst weather is just past Cannon Beach on a cliff road, then at Tillamook it floods for 30 miles in both directions, the Cows were standing on any piece of high ground they could find, the Winds from Depot Bay passed Yachats are so wild it blows at 90 mph to 110mph, you really don't want to cross the Newport Beach Bridge with wind like that!! It will blow right off the Bridge!!

I love the Newport to Florence section of 101, it is extremely rugged and beautiful, especially Cape Foulweather, but it sometimes can be very dangerous with heavy rain, snow and ice. Many times it has been closed due to wash outs. BE SAFE.

Hwy 101 on the Coast gets bad every year. It seems that the flooding always takes place in the same spots every year as well. It is always a shame because storm watching is wonderful this time of year and those businesses really depend on tourism as much as possible, but most Oregonians don't want to mess with the roads.

This Saturday Dec 20th and Dec 21st Will be the very worst with frozen rain, and snow mixed with this Arctic Blast of Record low temps! 23°...29°

Today it snowed in Malabo, California isn't going to miss this Arctic Storm it could hit near Dec. 18th-22nd time-frame.

Yikes.

Ya, 101 isn't something I'd chose to drive in the winter when it's just raining & windy. Add a winter storm to that mix and no way!

If it did blow you off the bridge, at least you could go to the marine center and see the octopus in the lobby. Provided you survive...

Scary to anyone that's driving this weekend. Please keep safe. We saw so many troubles on our trip back in the snow on I-5. Luckily we were safe, and were driving as the mess was just coming down and the wee hours. It was ugly then, and I imagine it's WAY worse now.

I-84 is closed eastbound right now in Oregon too. Which means my in-laws can't come for early Cmas dinner this weekend. Honestly, I'm relieved, the thought of feeding around 25 people (who would be sleeping in my house!) just does not sound fun to me right now. Plus even when the roads open I would not feel good asking them to drive in this weather in a tiny Jetta!

My cookie exchange/book exchange kids party for tomorrow is canceled, and our homeschool party too. I'm bummed. And when we went to get a tree tonight, the lots were closed early. Ugh. I love the snow, but honestly less than an inch and this city flips out.

I live on 101 in Southern Oregon. The road here is fine and I am sure will continue to be through the week as we have no snow in the forcast (as of right now anyway). Just wet and rainy. We drive 101 a lot, as we live on it lol. In fact, we are driving up to Newport tomorrow so we can start driving to our hometown in northern WA. The woman I talked to at the hotel in Newport said the road was fine, as in no snow at all, till about Depot Bay north. Though of course, conditions change frequently! Just take 101 slow and you will be fine, summer or winter :)

North101 is trecheerous right now. The PDX metro area is practically a ghost town as we speak because of the winterstorm.

Heavy snow projected at a foot.

Stay warm people. Do not go out if you don't have to.

The Portland area did not get hit as bad as Southern Washington - I'm looking out my window at about 8-10 inches.:wizard:

last night added a 1/4 inch of ice to the top of the snow Now it is truly dangerous. Drivers are asked to stay home, everything is cancelled, And
STUDDED TIRES ARE NOT ENOUGH EVERY VECHILE NEEDS TO HAVE CHAINS!!!

I-84 GOING EAST IS CLOSED

HIGHWAY 26 GOING TO THE THE COAST IS CLOSED

THE HIGHWAY TO TILLAMOOK IS CLOSED

THE SISKIYOU PASS IS CLOSED OVER NIGHT, CHAINS REQUIRED STUDDED TIRES ARE NOT ENOUGH DUE TO ICY CONDIONS

PLEASE TAKE EXTRA CARE

Metro PDX and Vancouver is still a mess today. People are already driving despite all the road closures.

Tire chains and 4wd is a must if you'll get on the metro highways.

Flights coming and going from PDX are still delayed or cancelled.

Greyhound and Amtrak is also delayed.

Gresham, OR is in a state of emergency I belive. Roads towards it from Troudale to the Gorge is still closed.

101 Update. I drove from the CA boarder north to Olympia (101 the whole way!!) and the road was great. Only a few patches of snow in southern WA. We took this route to avoid the Portland area and since we live on 101 it worked well for us, although the drive took a bit longer than it would have on I-5. Just thought I would give an update for anyone considering a drive south, or north;)

I am absolutely ecstatic about having a white christmas!!! Another system is supposedly moving in tonight & into tomorrow. :goodvibes

It rained hard here today. It melted about two in. Its still cold and lots of snow and now ice to go around. MERRY CHRISTMAS DISERS:>
