Just wondering if when you order your meal and are on the DDP...Can you get a soup or salad INSTEAD of an appitizer? You can't get both right??? :confused3

And for kids ordering...if there are no appitizers OR desserts listed can they order off the adult menu? (Just those items...appitizer and/or dessert)

Yes, you can order soup OR salad OR appetizer as your appetizer; you can order two items, but you have to pay for one of them.

While, yes, if there are no appetizers on the childrens' menu then kids can order an appetizer from the adult menu, and ditto for dessert, keep in mind the menus you see online are sometimes NOT complete. Desserts may be listed on the back of a menu, and somebody only took a picture of the front; desserts may come on a separate menu, or even on a cart; appetizers may be listed on the left page and entrees on the right...

Good thing to keep in mind ;) Thanks. I was looking at the menues posted on All ears and at the ones on the Dis Dinning area.

Always ask your server if you have any questions about the DDP. Remember, the more you order, the bigger their tip! They are more then happy to let you know about any substitutions!

If there are no child appisiters it depnds on the resturant, at WGP there are reports it means the children simply do not get one. I beleive there are chlld appitisers at all disney owned resturants now

Okay...just wondering if when your ordering your meal and your on the DDP can you exchange a soup or salad for an appitizer? You can't order both right?

AND for kids ordering off the childs menu...."IF" there are no appitizers listed or deserts for kids...can you order those items off the adult menu?

I went at the first of March and I never had a problem exchanging soup or salad for an app. unless the salads were the meal in itself kind. No you can't order both, but it can never hurt to ask your server. I did this at Mama Melrose and ended up with app. and salad I think it was.

For the kids I think that if there are no app listed ask your server what they can have, most resturants have changed the menu to include children app on the menu. I don't think they can order off of the adult section since the TS credits are now seperated into Child or Adult.

Of course, entree soups and salads count at entrees, though.

I don't know about exchanging items, but in January our server told us to order an appetizer for our DGD even though there were none listed on the children's menu. I don't know if this is up to the individual restaurant or if this is a general practice.

Tell me what I was asking when I started the thread. Since posting the second item (about no one wanting to tell me)....I've gotten lots of responces. Quite a few mixed ones....because I did ask the same question on another board...

I know when we went before they were more relaxed on what the kids ordered and didn't seem to have such limited kids menues. Plus if the kids menues didn't have an appitizer or dessert listed you COULD order one off the adult menu. After all the dinning plan does state that EACH person on the plan is intitled to one appitizer, one entree, one desert and one drink.....therefore if the kids don't have options to pick from I'd think they'd be able to order off the adult menu....after all they get the SAME things included in their plan. I guess that sorta falls into the same aspect as when you go to a place that doesn't even have a kids menu...they are able to order off the only menu the place has.

Not that it's a huge deal...but with the kids menus being soooo limited so much I'm sure my dd would like being able to order more than chick strips or pb&j with jello every now and then.

And I guess I didn't put alot of though into the menues being alot diffrent than whats posted on All ears and here on the dis....that'll just have to be something we come across as were on the trip.

So is your question if you can get soup or salad instead of appetizer? If so I think surfergrl31 answered it...

And then bicker said...

Then you asked if kids could order appetizer off adult menu if none were offered on child menu and response was........

Seems pretty clear to me. What was not answered??

Just to clear up any confusion...
Can you get a soup or salad INSTEAD of an appitizer?
Most restaurants consider most, if not all, of their soups and salads as appetizers, and therefore you can order any of them instead of a listed appetizer.

(Not all restaurants do so, and not all soups and salads are considered appetizers, but the majority of restaurants do, and the majority of soups and salads on menus are considered appetizers.)

You can't get both right??? :confused3
Correct: you can't. You get one appetizer, one entree, one dessert and a beverage.

And for kids ordering...if there are no appitizers OR desserts listed can they order off the adult menu?
Yes, but there aren't many restaurants left that don't have specific child appetizers and/or child desserts. You cannot necessarily go by the online menus -- some of them are incomplete.

The dining brochure says children must order off the children's menu. It doesn't say they get to order appetizers off the adult menu if the kids menu doesn't have any.

AFAIK the Disney owned restaurans have child appetizers, even if they're not shown on the internet menus.

Some of the non Disney owned restaurants have simply said no appetizers for kids. Alfredo's is one of those restaurants.

OMG...I think Dreamindisney may have gotten up on the wrong side today. Because IF you would have read the posts I had asked the question one day....and like 12 hrs later NOONE had replyed to the thread and orginal question...SO I think put in another post saying...."I guess noone wants to tell me". After that I got the answer. :thumbsup2

Then a day or so later someone had asked what I ment by saying "I guess noone want's to tell me" SO I said again what I was asking, that noone had replyed at first...then people did.

Anywho....YES the questions were answered LONG LONG ago. It was clear the FIRST time...and YES I have read ALL of the posts from EVERYONE with everything they had to say.

Just to add (which I think I've added already) when we went to WDW a couple years back and were on the DDP if a resturant did NOT have a kids appitizer or dessert on the kids menu you COULD order those things off the adult menus. It clearly states that kids do have to order off the kids/childrens menues when itmes are available....so if they do offer a kids selection for appitizer or dessert then YES they have to order from those items. BUT if they don't have anything listed (which I think there are some/few places that don't) can they STILL order off the adult menu. After all with their meal plan they do get the same items (appitizer, entree, dessert and beverage).

What? :confused3 I
think that someone else, other than Dreamdisney got up on the wrong side of the bed.....OP even posted a "thanks" to the original question, then the next the she posts, she asks if anyone was going to answer her.:confused3 I think Dreamdisney is owed an apology.

:wizard: Pixiedust Pixiedustpixiedust: pixiedust: I didn't mean anything negative I thought I had missed something in you question that's all . Glad we all now know salad or soup is usually considered 1appie and kids most likely don't get an adult appie!!
