Ordering items from china/hong kong/etc...

I've also ordered stuff from China through eBay. I make sure the Sellers have a high feedback rating - in the thousands. I've only ordered inexpensive stuff, like charms & bakeware, household items. The stuff that actually gets manufactured in China whether one buys it in the U.S. or elsewhere online. I figure the factories make this stuff in the multi-millions, which is why it is so inexpensively priced. That costume you posted probably costs them $3 to make. They are cutting out the middle man and shipping direct. Even if they only make $1 on each item, after they paid for the free shipping, it all adds up over time.

It has taken between 3 - 4.5 weeks to get to me. That's the downside. There is no reliable international tracking. One item took so long that I filed a complaint with eBay by their deadline, got a refund and the item arrived several days later. :headache:

Just wanted to report back - the item came in 17 days and is exactly as pictured - I did look through and find a high feedback seller that had the fabric listed as coral velvet, as most of the others had fleece or flannel. It's really well made and so so cute. my 2yo is obsessed with it! :)

I just ordered a football jersey on Amazon that came from China. I am unhappy with it. There are strings hanging from the numbers on the back. I tried to return for a refund but the seller says it costs so much to return that they'd like to offer me a half refund instead. I'm not happy.

I'm sorry, that is frustrating for sure. I'm assuming it wasn't sold BY Amazon, but maybe you can try to resolve it through them? Not sure how that works though for 3rd party sellers...

I knew I was taking a gamble and might end up with something awful and accepted the risk. I'm just glad it paid off for me. Hope you get some resolution!

Just be leery of clothing..Chinese sizing is much smaller than American. As someone else mentioned, it can take quite awhile to receive your package. I have ordered numerous things that come from China and for the most part have been satisfied. I just received a large shipment of baby toys that were so inexpensive, I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, the talking toys speak in Chinese :rotfl: The are also very cheap looking and way smaller than I had pictured. However, you get what you pay for:bored:

My daughter orders clothing all the time from China- she is small and clothes made in America are always to big on her. She wants cute clothes that a 16/17 year old would wear but she has the body for 12 year old kids clothes which are not cute! Clothes made in china has the older teens styles in sizes that actually fit her well. Most of it is just fine and well made- a couple times things were still to big and we ended up having to get them altered but most of the time they are great.
:thumbsup2 Great idea for a small teen! I've ordered several things directly from Chinese companies and have always been (pleasantly) surprised how promptly they arrive. But I did get burned on the clothing sizes - their largest (XL) is about an American 10 and several inches shorter than they should be. I ordered 8 dresses once and 5 of them were totally unwearable. I was impressed by the quality of the fabrics though and they were put together as well as anything comparable you'd buy here.
