Ordering from the children's menu

Hi everyone,

My family and I will be visiting Disney in April. I had bariatric surgery a week ago. My question is, will the Disney restaurants let me order from the children's menu? There is no possible way I will be able to eat an adult meal. I hate the thought of wasting a lot of food, and there is no way I want to be carrying around leftovers.

Does anyone Have any experience doing this? We are not staying on property, so there is no dining plan involved. I will be carrying a card with me stating I have had surgery and can not eat a lot.

Thanks!

I do it all the time at the QS restaurants, they don't know or care who is getting it. It can also be done at the TS restaurants, I think there may be a few that will charge adult prices for it but I have done it at a few and had no problem. I also sometimes just get an appy and a salad, I'm not a big eater.

If you have the medical card you may be able to get children prices at the buffets too. There have been a lot of varying answers about this though, it really depends on who's working and allows it. The best thing to do though is to ask each restaurant and explain the situation and have the card.
Some people have good luck being accommodated others don't, my personal advise is if the first person doesn't give you the answer you want ask for a manager or supervisor and keep going up until someone gives you at minimum a good reason why they won't accept it.
Also stress heavily that it is a medical accommodation.

The thing about children's meals is, yes, they are smaller, but they are usually not very healthy. You may be better off maybe ordering an appetizer or salad or soup just for a smaller healthier option. The fried food you usually find in the children's meals down there, may not be ideal for you after that surgery.

I've had friends who have ordered off the children's menus, and I've done it myself several times in the past with no problems, but it has been awhile. I'm just wondering if you might have better luck posting this on the Disney Restaurants section and maybe getting some better info there?

I'm quite sure - with the explosion of bariatric surgeries the last few years, you can't be the only one with these types of questions. Best of luck in your weight loss journey, and have a wonderful trip in April!!

LOL....I posted in this section by accident! No wonder I couldn't find it when I tried to look it up in the restaurant section! DUH.
