when you order from amazon do they authorize your cc right away and block off the amount of your purchase when you submit your order? i placed an order a several days ago that still hasnt shipped and my cc company told me there isnt any charge or hold from amazon. i'm wondering if there is a problem with the order. they usually process and ship quickly but this order is listed as can still be changed/canceled. the item is in stock too so it is not backordered or out of stock. maybe they are just slow but there is no number to call to check on the status.

Did you order it directly from amazon or was it a seller who sells through amazon? If I remember correctly I usually get charged right away if it is directly from amazon, but there sometimes a delay if it is a seller who sells through them.

If you do the free shipping it appears to delay the charging of the cc. I did the free shipping with my last order and it took about 5 days before my cc was charged and the items were shipped.

it was directly through amazon.

I did use the free shipping option. amazon used to be so fast. i tried the free trial from amazon prime a couple months ago but i canceled instead of keeping it. i swear my orders have become slower since trying the amazon prime and canceling it before the free trial period was up. i feel like my orders take double the time now that they did before i tried the amazon prime.

My last order took about 10 days which rather surprised me. I agree that shipping has gotten a lot slower. But I'm cheap :goodvibes and what I needed wasn't urgent so I waited.

You usually don't see any bank or CC activity until they actually ship the item..:goodvibes

Usually I see my card charged right away. Amazon has been pretty quick at answering questions on an order, so see what they say.

I also agree that the shipping has gotten slower at Amazon. I place a fairly large order two weeks ago using the free super saving shipping. One item arrived via Fed Ex two days later. I couldn't believe how fast it was! However, the rest of the items arrived approx. 10 days later via UPS. I have no idea when my card was charged. I thought when you placed orders online that your card was authorized at the time you place the order but that is just a guess.

You can check your account thru amazon to see if the order is processing or shipped.

In the old days when Amazon was trying to get customers, yes they would speed out people's orders with free shipping. It was one of their incentives to use their site.

Now, I think they deliberately delay sending out free shipping orders, in the hopes you will next time pay for shipping if you know an order will take a while. They lose money with free shipping. So, there is no incentive for them to rush a package out to you.
