what do you order?

i put this in the resort thread then thought it might be better here since it's mostly dvc members who order food

we'll be eating out only 2 meals a day and 8 of the 14 days will not include breakfast so we figured we'd order food to be delivered but what do you get?

i mean i know what we eat at home but we're on vacation and would prob want something more substantial then cereal or toast.

do you actually make breakfast when staying at the resorts in you have a kitchen. do you order bacon and eggs, waffles, cereal oj, milk,

do you have a list you could share?

it's not cheap to have it delivered so i don't want to forget something then have to order it and pay for delivery again

For our part, we ordered stuff that we could put together quickly so we could get up, eat and head out to the parks ASAP. If it's a more leisurely stay, the kitchens are well-equipped; you could make almost anything you want. I guess it really depends on how much time you want to dedicate to meal prep.

We erred on the side of ordering a little more from Garden Grocer than we thought we'd need, so we wouldn't have to worry about running out. The stuff we didn't use, we just took back home with us.

do i need to order stuff like

:thumbsup2

It does come down to how much you prefer to devote to food prep and how your family treats breakfast. For us, a light continental breakfast works well... We get milk, cereal, instant oatmeal, juice, fruit, maybe micro waffles and syrup. Seems one time we got microwave breakfast sandwiches, but as I remember they weren't very good.
As far as lunch or dinner, we only got microwaveable or frozen pizzas, etc.

For us, we felt we were there to enjoy WDW and ate well when we ate out, so didn't mind keeping it simple when we had to prep food. :cool1:

We have ordered from Garden Grocer for each of our visits and will probably continue to do so. We also only eat breakfast in the room. I usually order some fresh fruit, bagels, cream cheese, jam, english muffins, donuts, juice and milk. Next trip I am going to order some eggs so that I can hard boil them and have them in the fridge for any one who is interested.

Yes on the salt, pepper and ketchup. Some soap is supplied.

Nope, no way. We do not cook any meals in our villa. I refuse to cook and clean up on vacation. We will have a 2BR at BCV this June & the only thing that will be in that fridge is DH's beer. :rotfl:

Thank goodness for the DDP & our TIW card. We always use one or the other every trip.

Yes. They provide a small thing of dish soap as I remember, but not much, so wouldn't hurt to get small bottle.

Mousekeeping will replenish dish soap, dishwasher detergent, paper towels, and toilet paper. We stay for a week and bring a bar of soap for each shower in the villa (because we're fussy). I don't know if they'll replenish personal products , coffee or laundry detergent unless it's trash and tidy/full clean day.

We used WEGO shop in December and highly recommend them for your shopping. You pick the store(s) you want them to shop at. Their fee is based on the amount you spend and they furnish you with the grocery receipt. Our shopper called me two times from Publix to verify items. We ordered deli meats (6 pounds), which were sliced to my specifications.

We have an owners locker with our spices and stuff like that. I think I am going to bring a small Forman grill this trip to put in it.

We're fairly new members, but have stayed at DVC 3 times since joining a year ago. Each time we bring breakfast stuff, consistent with what we usually have for breakfast. I just want to avoid the HUGE cost of eating in the restaurants for breakfast. At AKV we had WEGO shop deliver (worked great!) and had eggs, toast, fruit, and juice for six of us. The two times at VGC we had fruit, bagels, milk, and yogurt that one of our guests brought since they had a car. There are plates, utensils, mugs, glasses, paper towels (which we use for napkins) and soap for one load of the dish washer. We had to bring our own condiments, salt, and pepper.

The kitchen in DVC units was one of the selling points for me. Although there might be a special breakfast, in general we like to make our own.

this was our thought too because the first 5 days we'll just be the 4 of us then my brother is flying down for 7 nights so we thought we'd save our breakfasts for when he got there since we only usually eat 2 meals out

last trip we did mostly breakfasts and either a late lunch or early breakfast but these were table service or buffets and more substantial

this time we're trying to stay with 1 cs and 1 ts a day to save a bit more money this trip

Howdy!

Thanks for the info about housekeeping. I had dish & dishwasher soap as well as paper towels on my Garden Grocer list. Since we'll be "cash" guests at BLT I understand we'll have daily housekeeping. Sounds like they'll replace those things saving me from having to order them.

I'm ordering a 20" box fan (!) since DD and grandbabies are used to sleeping with one. Any ideas of how I can pay it forward on departure?

With four generations (19 months to 80 years) we'll be in and out of the villa a lot so I'm getting breakfast, lunch, a dinner or two, and park snacks. Also diapers & wipes.

Also have laundry detergent and bottles of sunscreen, shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste larger than 3 oz. sizes in my cart. We're there for ten days and want to try to use carryon luggage only.

P.S. Our trip's not until December, but my cart list is saved to edit as we continue to get more information. Thanks!

On a recent trip with 7 people in a 2-bedroom, we bought plenty of breakfast foods - stuff for cereal, toast, eggs, bacon, grits, english muffins, orange juice, milk, oranges, etc and ate breakfast in the villa every day but one. Most days we just had quick cereal and or toast, but after a late night watching fireworks, we'd sleep in and fix a big breakfast. One day I made a large pan of cinnamon rolls (I have a great, easy recipe, and just made sure to get flour, yeast, butter...have cinnamon in my owner's locker) - that lasted for a couple of days.

We also got bread, cheese, and PB and J for quick sandwiches and used all of this up as we sometimes got a late start, or if we went at park opening came back for a late lunch and regroup before heading out again. Chips and salsa, fruit (apples and grapes) beer, and wine rounded out our purchases. We needed to replenish milk before the end of our trip and it was not too expensive at the gift shop (under $3 for a 1/2 gallon).

Next time when we are going for a long stay, I will plan ingredients for one dinner at the villa. We thought we would eat out every night, but twice our 3 yr old didn't nap and needed to go to bed early. We ended up ordering take-out food... not bad, but would have been less stressful to throw something in the oven than figure out where to order for delivery, wait an hour, etc.
