Ordering filet mignon etc.

I hope you do not think I am ridiculous with this question: Just wondering if anyone has ordered a meat selection(prime rib, sirloin, filet mignon etc.)at a Disney restaurant and asked for it without the special sauce that they put on that particular dish. I know many chefs would probably be annoyed with this question. I know that many restaurants probably do not want to do that because that is what makes their dish special. Like I said I know it sounds like a silly question , it is just that DS loves filet mignon, prime rib etc. but does not always go for the sauces they put on the meat.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this at a Disney resort restaurant etc. Thanks. :)

Oh, sorry, one more question, Has anyone had the crab cakes at Kona at dinner and if so, how were they and would they be included as an app. on the DDP? Thanks so much. :)

We did! We just had lunch at Le Cellier last weekend and on the menu was the filet with a veal demi glaze. DH ordered it like they serve it at night, with the BBQ sauce....no problem they said!

Oh thanks MickeyNicki. That is good to know. I just wonder if anyone else has done this or asked for no sauce at all or on the side? :)

We eat at The Concourse Steakhouse the first night of every trip, and I always get the Sirloin Steak entree plain (I just ask for the regular seasonings like salt and pepper). It comes with a red wine sauce that I don't care for and they have never had a problem cooking it plain for me.

My daughter does it every trip at a number of different restaurants.

I had the crab cake app. at Kona Cafe for dinner in Aug. It was included on the DDP. The 3 cakes/order are the size of golf balls and it comes accompanied with mixed greens dressed with fruity(mango?) dressing. It has a bread crumb type coating which is not my favourite and the meat is the finely shredded kind(can?) Definitely not lump crab meat. Good point: not too much bread filler inside each cake and the flavours blend well together.

Great to hear. Thanks everyone.

Minnie&Me: Thanks for the info about the crab cakes. DH loves a good crab cake, but does not like when they fill it with lots of bread crumbs. I bet it icould be canned crab meat. Thanks again. :)

Oh heck, if my husband had to eat any of the "weird" stuff on his meat, we'd never go out. He's the guy who asks for his burger not to have anything on it but the bun, the burger, cheese, ketchup, and pickles if available. Tomatoes, onions and lettuce even on the side are unacceptable. Honestly, the only meal he orders right off the menu is from our local Mexican restaurant. And that's because it's steak, cheese, and nachos. He brings his own hot sauce because the one provided "just isn't right".

The chef at the Kona actually suggested that my DDIL order her steak without their special crust because he could not guarantee that it did not come into any contact with walnuts. The chefs want you to enjoy the meal. If you prefer your meat to be without sauce, that is how they would want you to have it.

The mushrm sause is much better.

My DH ordered Kona's crab cakes and they were great! Very crabby! I think there is a pic of them in my dining review - link is in my signature.

I *loved* the crab cakes at Kona. They were the best I've had anywhere and I crave them constantly now that I can't have them! Yes, they were on the DDP.
