Hi all!

Hope someone can help . . . I asked over on the cake thread but no one answered, but I figure people here know everything!!:thumbsup2

I would like to order a cake to come out at the end of our meal at California Grill as a surprise for my DH. I know you can't order the Cinderellas Slipper or Castle at the Contemporary, but I think you can order the Mickey Head one there? Has anyone had that, and can you have it made any flavour or does it come as a standard?

Or even better, can you just order a "normal" round cake, have it made any flavour you want (chocolate in my case!) and have a message piped on the top - has anyone done that?!

Basically the cake thread is so huge I am completely lost!!! I'm not even sure if I have to call the Contemporary direct or the "cake hotline" as both numbers are listed :confused3

Help!!!!!

Personally I would ring the contemporary direct and ask for the Manager of the restaurant to discuss your requirements.

Are you staying at a WDW hotel as it is easier to order cakes if you are.

Thanks for answering! :thumbsup2 Yes we're on site! How does that make it easier? Do they charge our room, or do I pay when I order?

They like 48 hours notice and if you are on site you could ring from your room to order.

Is the meal a few days at least into your holiday?:thumbsup2

Day 4 I think so thats not so bad! Just need to get DH out of the room so I can call!

Or the front desk will be able to help you.

We did this at GF 2 years ago.

If you know exactly what you want before you ring it will probably be even better as there are so many different fillings:rotfl2:

I think I will call and just check what they can do! Did you call the hotel direct rather than the hotline?

I would ring the hotel and speak to the manager and then organise when you arrive.:thumbsup2

Thanks for all your help! I would love Cindys slipper when we are at 1900 Park Faire, but it seems sad to order it for yourself! I wish my DH would join these forums and find out about it!!!!!!!!!!

Great thanks!

Anyone else done this, or even better got any pictures!?

I've seen photos on the USA boards have some of these - and Jo had a couple as part of Disney mom's training (you could check her trip report). I think its a bigger thing this year with the "celebration" theme.

I ordered a customised cake from the Boardwalk Bakery for a joint birthday. It was a 10" one and absolutely gorgeous! Here is a picture of it:

I also ordered one of the standard ones for my OH's birthday and they put a message on the top, but they did tell me they don't customise them with other messages apart from something very basic. This is a picture of it:

They gave me candles to put on the 10" custom and I asked our waitress at Boma to put the candles on the smaller one.

The 10" was $45+tax and the 6" one was $12.50+tax.

The smaller one was just a standard cake, no choice of fillings, but the 10" one was almost anything you could think of! I chose yellow sponge with raspberries and bavarian cream filling and it was one of the nicest things i have ever eaten.

We are going in December and will be ordering one just for us. Might even get one each... :rotfl:

When we stayed at the Polynesian, my son who was about 10 at the time told the lady in reception that it was our anniversary the next day. The next morning there was a knock on the door, and I was shocked and surprised to find a cast member with a beautiful anniversary cake, tablecloth and silver knives and forks. He came in and laid the table and put our cake on and wished us a magical day - no charge was made, and it made our sons holiday.:woohoo:

I Think that the best bet is to phone the no. to order cakes for the Contemporary then you can discuss with them what they're able to provide. The tel. no. is: 407-824-1000. Good luck, I hope that you get what you want! :goodvibes

Those cakes look lovely, does anyone have any pics or more info on the slipper or the castle?:)

I bet you DH will be delighted with a cake, the Mickey one sounds fab :thumbsup2

How would you go about ordering a cake for your second day after arriving (ie our 1st full day!) ??

It's my DH birthday and would love to get him a cake. We've nothing special planned (as yet) so could either be at resort (POFQ) or restaurant (if we decide to book one)

Can someone advise?

Thanks

Thanks for the help everyone! Going to ring and make some enquiries tomorrow when DH is home late!

Any more photos / ideas in the meantime gratefully received!

I think you would have to order it before leaving, I'm not sure whether they take payment over the phone or charge when it gets delivered/ I may be able to answer more tomorrow after I call! I AM SO EXCITED!!! He won't have a clue its coming!!

I should have multi-quoted!

I think to order the slipper or castle you have to be eating at CRT or a Grand Floridian restaurant. I would love to order one of them, but 1900 Park Faire and Grand Floridian Cafe don't seem romantic enough!
