Ordering cake from Grand Floridian or ?

All of the cakes look so beautiful ... almost too beautiful to eat *lol* :p ... I like the Mickey cake! How far in advance do you have to order the cake and is there a special number you have to call?

Snurk71 if I may ask a couple of questions...

You said $40.00 for the cake, set-up, and delivery. Were you staying at the GF or were you at a different resort.

I would love to have this done for my DS 14 as we will be there on his birthday...but we are staying at the CBR. No matter how hard I tried to talk him in to a different one....he and my other son wanted the Caribbean! (I hope I don't regret it!!) Ahhh well live and learn.

ANYWAY, I would love to order this and have it delivered to our room while we are out....I wonder if THAT is possibe???

Any insite would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I found the following on the WDWIG website. This response was in reference to a recent TV show:

"The cakes are priced according to the fillings and decorations chosen by the Guest. Executive Pastry Chef Erich Herbitschek, who creates these incredible fairytale confections, has been inundated with cake requests big and small since the program aired, so call far in advance of your visit. Even calling ahead can't absolutely guarantee Chef Erich will be able to fulfill your wish, but he will try as time permits. "

1DisneyFan,

We were staying at the GF. So room service put together that nice display of the cake for us. I don't know for sure, but from what I've heard, you can get this cake delivered to other resorts.

And DW corrected me on the cake, the middle filling was kind of a pudding-like substance - a little like bavarian cream, but not quite like that.

Regarding the timing of ordering, when I called I was looking for a somewhat "standard" - nothing specialized like the cakes seen on Unwrapped. So the prep time for this Mickey cake might not be the same as some of other types of cakes they are getting requests for. At least that was the way the bakery contact sounded when I spoke to them.

Thanks. The standard Mickey cake would be fine form my son. He will be 14 and I thought it would be nice to surprise him and have a disney cake in the room when we get back from the parks. I think I will call Monday or Tuesday and check to see how much notice that they need!

Thanks!!!
