Orbitz users - hold my hand a bit

Yes - that's exactly what I did. Disney had no problem pulling up my reservation when I gave them the long number that began with a "4" I believe. It looked exactly like a regular confirmation number that I get when I book directly with Disney.

I booked my trip through Orbitz in the fall, so maybe they're doing things differently now, but I have no long Disney-like confirmation number. Did you have to request this from Orbitz? Disney insisted that I call Orbitz to make my room-location requests.

Hmmmmm.

Basically, these are grid party bookings. Disney and orbitz have the relationship on the booking, and you and orbitz have a relationship.

What the CMs are trained to do is direct you back to Orbitz since that's who your relationship is through, and the orbitz calls Disney since that's who their relationship is through.

CAN disney see and change your reservation? Yes. Are they supposed to? No.

It's a toss up - but 9/10 they send you back to who you booked it through. It seems like it doesn't work that way most of the time because of forum members discussing it, but it does.

How long does it take to get your email from disney? I just booked today. I also got the 3 day park with 2 days free. Can't wait to get my email.

I got the Disney-like confirmation number from the Orbitz agent when I called Orbitz to add my kids. The agent got the number from Disney when she put me on hold to call Disney to add my kids.

Mine came within a day or 2 max.......

Hmm? I booked on 12/29 through Orbitz for our May trip and I haven't gotten an email from Disney with the long confirmation #? Wonder why some are getting it and others of us aren't.

If u click on the disney link "my disney experience..." On the orbits page and u log on it will load it up for u

I'm not seeing it. Only my 6 digit confirmation code. I don't really need it but find it curious that some people are receiving an email from Disney after booking on Orbitz with their long confirmation # and not the short one they got when booking on Orbitz.

I booked through Orbitz last year and did online check in and got both requests so hoping for the same again this year. It would be nice to have the number just in case, but I don't have any real special requests nor am I planning to do the FP Lunch at BOG (went last year to BOG and hated it - it was my worst dining experience)!

I've been kicking around rebooking through Orbitz as well - but if I do, won't I lose my dining ressies?

I did not lose any of my ADR... I didn't have any fast passes booked yet.

Even if you booked 180 + 10? That's how I booked my ADR's and I'm afraid if I rebook I'll lose them.

I just re-booked my Easter week reservation with Orbitz because my BC CL room was finally discounted on Orbitz! Saved another $500 off the already 30% off Disney reservation! I really can't believe it.

In any event, just wanted to add to this thread that booking with Orbitz just now was exactly the same experience as booking with them last Easter. I booked my reservation online, called Orbitz to add my kids, the agent put me on hold to call Disney, came back on the line with my kids added and the long Disney confirmation number that begins with a "4." I have already linked it in MDE and all 4 of us are there, no problems. My dining is still all there, as expected.

So, I decided to go for it. Just booked the rooms with Orbitz and called to add my kids. She put me on hold to contact the hotel and came back saying that she couldn't add the kids and that I should cancel my reservation and rebook with 4 people. Well, that's not happening. I know this can be done. Wish me luck with customer service person number 2.

UPDATE: CSR number two did it! Disney must have been busy, because he was on hold with them for around 10-15 minutes (and came back twice to apologize that it was taking so long). However, he came back and said that the kids are added (though, he didn't ask their names, just their ages, so we'll see if I can deal with their names when i link up to MDE....). I do have a Disney confirmation number now, so I'll get on that this afternoon when I'm finished taking down my Christmas decorations :)

Moral of the story...keep calling until someone can help you. I'm wondering if my first person didn't understand what I wanted, as she didn't ask the names or ages of the kids...though I did tell her I needed to add two children that were under 18. The second time I specifically said I needed to add my girls who were 10 and 12..,..

UPDATE 2: I've linked the new Orbitz reservation to MDE using the "12 digit starts with 4 Disney number" that I got from Orbitz when I added the girls. The number that shows in MDE is the Orbitz hotel ressie number, though. I never mentioned it, but that is how MDE handled it. I'm not concerned, just mentioning for others.

UPDATE 3: To continue sharing my experience. I finally got brave enough to believe all was well and cancel my original package through Disney. The CM was wonderful and it was done lickety split. While I had her on the phone, I mentioned that there is conflicting info about room requests and could I do that for my Orbitz ressie with her or did I need to call Orbitz. She said I should call Orbitz and there is also a place on MDE to note requests. I figure worst case, I'll just note it during online checkin....really I just want to make sure that the three rooms of our group are as next to each other as we can be, and try to have a ground floor to make things a bit easier for my MIL, who will be using a motorized scooter when we head to the parks.

Sorry this happened to you. I think you should have better luck by calling back. I just successfully booked and called to add my kids this morning, and I also did it last year.

I booked with Orbitz this morning because I could not get a room at the BC through the Disney site, but it was available for 35%off at Orbitz. I just couldn't pass it up. I called this afternoon to get the 12 digit Disney reservation number, which I will link later. I currently have a bounce back reservation at the YC for the same dates, and want to move my bounce back to Oct rather than cancel it.

It took a while for the Orbitz rep to get the 12 digit number from Disney, but he was able to do it. What he couldn't seem to do was to add a request to my reservation. He said that I had to cancel my reservation and make a new one. Well, I'm not doing that. I'll just wait until I can do online check in.

I really didn't want to go through Orbitz, especially since I had to pay in full for it now, but I couldn't get the BC at that discount any other way. :(

Random question - can I schedule the Magical Express myself or does that go through Orbitz, too?

Another random question - the Orbitz site says that my reservation is guaranteed refundable. Has anyone had trouble getting all of their money back, no questions asked and no further commitments involved?

Is your request maybe a separate booking category?

How does this work when you need to ensure a room that can sleep 5? I'm trying to book through orbitz for 2 adults only, but then add the 3 kids later. But I need to be sure we can get in the Bayou.

I don't have specific experience, but the thought that comes to mind is to book it, call Orbitz and see if they can add the kids. Worst case, you can cancel the reservation, right? No harm, no foul.
