Okay. It's been 3 years since our last Disney trip and I'm trying to digest all the changes, discounts, etc etc. Check me on this, cuz I'm a "do what I can to save" kind of gal.

Right now, we have booked rooms at POP, which is our Disney home, since it has allowed us to make this trip many years. We have the new deal booked, for 7 nights in early June...also 8 day PH tickets.

Based on all the threads that I've spent a couple of hours reading about Orbitz, I've come up with a plan that I need to hear makes sense, cuz I feel like it's way too obvious to be true....

I can book the same dates for my room only through Orbitz (the room is the same discount that Disney is applying for early June) and using the code GIFTME, save 15%. In addition, I can save more if I book through Ebates (and use my Disney Visa to get 1% back).

Since I'm not close to my 60 days for FP+, I can wait to see if there is another amazing Orbitz deal that allows me great cash back on Disney tickets (as there has been in the past...up to 20%). Worst case, I can book the tickets at the regular price through Orbitz, or even just through Disney.

I can link my hotel reservation to my MDE account. Then, cancel the reservation I have through Disney (cuz i'm so paranoid).

Once I buy the tickets, I can then link them to MDE account (even if they come from Orbitz), still do fastpass + at 60 days, and still get my magic bands (making sure to change my address) just as if all of this happened through Disney in the first place?

This feels like I'm missing something, cuz it is such a no brainer and saves a bunch more money for a little bit of effort?!?!?

Help me to feel confident in this plan.

Couple things....

1) Ebates will get you 1%. I thought it was 6.5%, and almost booked AGAIN to go that route, but tht is only for cruises. I'm not going to go through this all again, but if you can remember to do it straight off, it's 1%!

2) Absolutely, do NOT put down four people in your room. Only put two adults and then straighten it out later with Disney. I was just charged an extra $50 per night because I put my kids on the reservation. It has then taken me two hours to sort of straighten it out.

Not to steal your thread but I was wondering the same things!

I can save quite a bit of money if I change my reservation to book through Orbitz, but it seems to easy like I'm missing something. I can just link this to my account and it's like I booked through Disney all along.

I just booked a BWV thought Orbitz and saved $350 over my room I booked through Disney. I didn't cancel my Disney room until after I linked my Orbitz reservation. Once I linked the Orbitz rez to MDE I called Disney and cancelled the room I booked through them. It was easy as pie. The only issue with Orbitz is that you need to pay the balance up front rather than being able to make payments.

My only question is now how do I make a room request to Disney if the reservations are through Orbitz....that I haven't figured out yet :rotfl2:

(oh and having 3 adults in the room did not change the price from having 2 in the room with Orbitz....maybe that only happens with children?)

A lot of people will say you have to make room requests through Orbitz because they own the reservation, but I was easily able to do it through Disney. I had to call Disney regarding something (maybe to reserve cabana at Poly?) and while doing that, I asked to add room requests. The CM claimed to do it, no problems mentioned. So out of curiosity, when I had to call Disney again at a later date, I played dumb and asked if I noted any room requests and the CM looked it up and read me word-for-word what I had requested. So I know it can work directly with Disney -- I'm not sure why some people have issues. Maybe it depends on which confirmation number you give the CM -- I gave her the long number that began with a 4, I believe, it sounded exactly like a normal Disney confirmation number....

HELP! I can't get orbitz reservation linked in MDE! I used the hotel confirmation number Orbitz gave me. How did you get the longer Disney confirmation?

I got it! But would like to know how to get Disney confirmation number to call them for room requests.

I just got off the phone with orbitz and added children to our room reservations (i tried calling disney directly and they couldn't do it). I booked the two rooms we needed separately in order to take advantage of the orbitz bucks. I want Disney to link the two reservations and make note of a request for adjoining rooms. I only have the Orbitz confirmation caode (which linked to MDE easily). How can I put in my requests with Disney?

Thanks!

Me too. I had to call Orbitz when I made my room requests. Disney reservations would not talk to me directly. I had only the short Orbitz confirmation number, which worked fine for the link to MDE, but didn't pass muster with Disney reservations.

I'm in the same boat. When I tried calling Disney the CM said he couldn't bring up my ressie because it was not a Disney reservation number and that changes had to go through Orbitz. When you called Disney, how did they locate your reservation?

Thanks!

So i just got off with Orbitz to add my daughter to the reservation it took a bit of explaining and calling back (the person yesterday said Disney was closed, first person i got this morning had no idea what i was talking about) but i got it done. I see her on my MDE. Now for special request I THINK you would put them in when you do online check in, but i am not 100% sure that's accurate. So if someone knows different please let me/us know.

I just went on the Orbitz website and it says it has a buy 3 day tickets, get 2 days free promo... but when I tried to book it, it still shows only 3 days. Anyone have any idea's on this?

For those of you that booked through orbitz, I just got an email from disney that had my disney confirmation number so I plan to use that to call and make my room requests with Disney. Orbitz told me I would have to call Disney directly for room requests. I think having this number will make it easier.

I just got that same email with the long Disney confirmation number :). Now once I decide on a room request I'll try it and hopefully they will accept it :thumbsup2

UPDATE! I called Disney with the long confirmation number and had an awesome CM. She could pull it up but couldn't get into it. Asked if I made it through a 3rd party and I told her Orbitz. She put me on hold and spoke to someone in the wholesale dept who went in and added my request. So the key is getting a nice CM and asking them if someone in the wholesale dept could add your room request.

Nice CM, for sure. Most will advise you to call Orbitz (because that's what they're supposed to do).

I haven't called yet but yesterday orbitz told me I had to do that with Disney! Ugh! I HATE inconsistency. The guy at orbitz seemed to know what he was doing because I had no trouble getting my daughter added to the rescue. And others on here have said they had no trouble getting Disney to add for them. We are staying at BC and I really want to request a renovated room with full balcony. Anywhere else it wouldn't matter. I guess what really bothers me is that I had to go through orbitz instead of Disney to get the room I wanted and much better deal. I just don't understand why but I loved the extra savings!

Yes - that's exactly what I did. Disney had no problem pulling up my reservation when I gave them the long number that began with a "4" I believe. It looked exactly like a regular confirmation number that I get when I book directly with Disney.

When I called Orbitz to add my kids, the agent put me on hold to call Disney to add them. When the agent came back on the line, she gave me a new long confirmation number that I believe began with a "4" (looked just like a regular confirmation number I get when I book directly with Disney). I'm thinking this was in fact a number Disney assigned to my reservation. So I later called Disney about something and gave the CM the new long number and she was able to pull up my reservation and add my room requests.
