Orbitz or Cheap Tickets?

I'm looking to book August dates on site and there are no summer discounts at this point; so the only way to get that would be through Orbitz or cheap tickets at least that I'm aware of. Does anyone have any experience with either of these companies positive or negative? Additionally if Disney does put out a promotion for August can I amend my reservation with Orbitz or cheap tickets after the fact to secure the cheaper rate?

I have booked the onsite hotels thru Orbitz a few times now and have not had any problems. I usually book thru them if I can't get a good deal on the hotel's own site. I'm not sure how it will work if Disney comes out with a promo after you have booked. You may need to cancel and rebook at that point to get the discount or you could try calling Orbitz to see if they could apply the discount.

Also, you will want to call the hotel directly to put in any special requests for tower, room configuration, floor, etc. Be sure to call the actual hotel and NOT the Disney Vacation line. It will take a couple days for the reservation to show up in their system so don't call right away.

They are the same company I believe, so they don't function all that differently. We booked GCH through Cheap tickets last year due to the fact they had the 18% off coupon vs Orbitz only having 15%. At that time (I assume it's still the same now), we paid a deposit but it was fully refundable.


A few weeks later, Disney had a 20% off offer for our dates. We were able to cancel and rebook at the lower rate, no problem, and was still able to find a coupon code for 18% off which stacked with the Disney discount.

Maybe the tax? I'm not sure if the tax is included in the initial price or not.

Read the details of the offer. Sometimes the discount is limited to "X" dollars off. Also note what the cancellation fee will be if you decide to cancel and rebook if an offer comes out. They've been tacking on cancellation to some Disney World hotels, don't know if/when it will bleed over to Disneyland hotels. As far as which site remember Orbitz gives you 5% back on your booking available for use immediately, if you have other hotels to book for anything you'll want to run the math to make sure the Cheaptickets discount is still better when you account for how you'd use the 5% back from Orbitz.

When we booked with Orbitz a few years ago it took almost a week for our reservation to populate in Disney's system before we could make our room requests fyi.

ETA: just read the SUNSCREEN offer and it says $150 max discount

Yes I saw fine print after. Not going to bother will book direct aND skip the potential csncelation hassles. It was worth it it at 16% but not for $150.thank's for everyone's help.

That's too bad, sorry it didn't work out. Yeah, you can probably just go the discounted Disney Gift Card route and book direct, you should be able to get more than 4%.
