Orbitz has 15% off of DLR Hotels for Summer

Ugh, y'all are right. I can't check my credit card for the moment to see if the orbitz went through, but I just got an ebates confirmation for it so it must have. Orbitz does indeed charge up front

UPDATE: 20% code is DISCOVER.

Thank you so much for this! :thumbsup2

I'd never heard of Orbitz until reading this thread and only stumbled across it whilst looking for some info about the Paradise Pier. I've spent weeks comparing prices and discounts on various sites but the after-discounted prices on Orbitz were better than anything else I've been able to come up with. :cool1:

I've just successfully applied the 20% off to an off-site property and made a great saving, even taking into account the Aussie/US exchange rate. :cool1:

Now off to book the Paradise Pier! :hyper:

Wow. I already booked directly with the resort for a deluxe park view room at the DLH (so it would be on a higher floor)

Now I'm considering booking through orbitz and cancelling. But I'm not sure what the room equivalent is on Orbitz - is it also Deluxe? And would I book through orbitz and then call the DLH to add that I want the 2 queen beds + sofa in the Adventure tower facing the parks??

If I can do this without sacrificing our chances of getting the room we want, then I would totally do it. Do the hotels look at how you booked the room in determining which "best available" to give you when you arrive for check-in? I'm afraid that they'll know which reservations were Orbitz and then simply not be as generous with room choices when checking in...

Orbitz offers theme park view rooms. I can't tell you if the hotel Is biased with your room assignment, but once you get your confirmation you should call the hotel anyways to make sure they have it and then you put your request in :)

UPDATE: 20% code is DISCOVER. Thanks, Sleepymouse! Check second post for details. It's not much, but it's something. Helps pay for taxes. For 15% use code OUTTAHERE. Can be cancelled if something better comes along, and I think is over March 9th. I got a room at PPH. Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Thanks for this ! I was waiting for some discounts to come along for DL hotel for this summer, was afraid I wouldn't find any until now. 20% off is great and better than rack-rate .
BTW, the DISCOVER discount reads ............
Book a qualifying hotel on Orbitz.com and apply this Orbitz promo code to receive 20% off hotel booking. Book by 1 April 2014. Travel by 31 December 2014.

So at least it can be used until April 1 !

Thanks again !

I'm glad that people are taking advantage of this deal. I love that you can use it for bookings through the end of the year.

As far as bias regarding booking direct or third party, I don't know if the DLR hotels take this into account. I spoke to an operator at the DLH last week about preferences, and she told me that requests are viewed on checkin morning and rooms assigned accordingly.

Oh Yea, Just wondering if third party bookings (like this Orbitz offer) can be linked to MDE ? I would assume it would, but just wondering if anyone has done it yet. Guessing you have to call to get the correct confirmation # ?

Also, not getting the Orbitz 5% app special ? I signed up, and I can see the 5% extra, but cant figure out how to add it to the reservation ? I assume that's its only available for your NEXT reservation made, and can not be used for the one that is presently being made ?

Thanks ........

GAH! I can't tell which rooms are theme park view rooms. All they say are standard, deluxe, and premium. And King or two queens for each. I absolutely need to have 2 queens but have no idea whether I need a deluxe or premium room. I think it's a deluxe if I compare the pricing to my reservation through DLR. OK, I went ahead and booked. I was afraid I'd miss out on the 20% code and I know I won't be able to find a better deal! (We also have no issues with paying up front) I'll call the hotel tomorrow to request the 2 queen beds, Adventure tower, park view and then cancel my DLR reservation. This saved me $350! We will totally spend that in the parks or on dining! Thanks so much, OP and Sleepymouse for this great find!!

Deluxe rooms are on lower floors whereas premium are on higher floors giving you views of downtown disney/resort above trees or pool.

When making requests, sometimes I have had to call Orbitz and sometimes hotel directly.

OK, booking through Orbitz is a bit of a PITA. I called the hotel to make the special requests, and they said I had to call Orbitz because they have no control over Orbitz reservations. So I called Orbitz - I had to change my reservation to get the premium room which they were happy to do for me, but it took 45 freakin' minutes!!! And 2 separate cancellations (one of which was a mess-up because she forgot to apply the DISCOVER code). AND - she said that she can put a note for the special requests on the Orbitz reservation but that I'd have to call the hotel in advance. Huh?

So I guess I'll call the hotel a week in advance but I bet they're going to say I have to call Orbitz again...

Oh well - the CS rep did give me a $50 Orbitz voucher since I was on the phone for so freakin' long and in the end it's still a significant savings over the rack rate.

Expect it to be like that every time you call Orbitz/Cheaptickets (basically the same people). It is always better to do as much online as possible. If you have to change anything again, just cancel and rebook online. Several times, I have had to call Orbitz/Cheaptickets to add room requests. The rep then puts me on hold to call the DLH to pass along the requests. Seems so silly. However, the last time I did this, I was told that I would need to call the DLH directly to add requests. I did (called the hotel operator) and she was able to locate my reservation and add requests. At this point, my reservation was only one month out, so timing may be a factor in determining who needs to be contacted.

Thank you, you are exactly right. Now that I know, I will try to make changes online myself. And re: the requests - this is exactly what happened - the Orbitz person told me that they made a note of my requests but that I would also need to call DLH myself. When you called DLH to add requests, did you tell them that you have an Orbitz reservation? I am wondering if that's what automatically got me the "sorry, we can't help" answer - maybe I should've had them look up the reservation with my name instead and avoid mentioning Orbitz? I find it hard to believe that DLH wouldn't have access to my Orbitz reservation.

Sad to say that we passed on this offer. The 20% off was great, but perhaps wasnt worth the headaches of dealing with a third party AND having to pay in full up front.
Called DL reservations and went with a standard 10% AAA discount instead. Tried to get them to match the 20% Orbitz offer, but no-go. No DVC member discounts either.
The difference for us, between the 10% and 20% was only about $100. so (at least for us), it wasnt worth dealing with the headaches, and paying in full 5 -6 months in advance. We only needed to reserve 3 nights at DL resort before our Grand California Villa stay on points.
On the plus side, we were able to add requests to our reservation because it was directly through Disney.
10% off will do for now, and if DL decides to release a summer promo, I will go that route .
Thanks anyway for the heads up on the code !

I called 714-778-6600 and then pressed 3 for hotel operator. She asked for my name, found reservation and added requests. I have been told that third parties reserve rooms when booked but don't initially release guest info to hotels. I have no idea how this works or if true.

Thank you sooooo much for the great tip! Saved us over $400 on a seven night stay at Paradise Pier in August.

:goodvibes

Hi!
I booked through Orbitz 3 nights at Paradise Pier, Theme Park view. I noticed on Disney's site Theme Park view is considered "Concierge Level", which includes continental breakfast and some afternoon perks as well. Does anyone else know if the Orbitz theme park view room incluse the concierge perks as well?

Also, another question. We also ordered our 3 day hopper tickets through Orbitz and rec'd an additonal day free. The last night of our stay we are staying off site. I know during our first 3 days we have early entry due to staying on Disney property, but our last day we won't be. Will we be able to use the one free early entry that came with our tickets for our last non Disney resort day? I'm not sure how that all works (tracking of the one free early entry)?

Thanks, Amy

PPH has two theme park view categories. One standard and one with concierge. I believe orbitz has only the standard.

I believe it's probably just a standard with theme park view, as well. If you want the upgrade to concierge you could call Disney with your confirmation from orbitz number and do it that way I'm sure :) I wish we could get theme park views, but money's a little tight. Concierge would be awesome; I've read that PPHs is outstanding!

Thanks again for the "DISCOVER" code with Orbitz.
We just used it for a quick grad trip in Early June.
Since there are 4 "adult" kids going, we decided on trying out an All Star Music Family Suite. Disney doesn't charge extra adult fees for suites, so it worked out great. So with the 20% off spring offer (value resorts) from Disney, AND the 20% off Orbitz deal it was a total of 40% a R/O reservation. It came out to about $200. per night for the family suite for 6 nights. :cool1:
Never tried a value resort yet, but looking forward to it !
Oh, BTW, I was able to link it up to MDE almost instantly. Then I added the names of the guests, and was able to pick out the magic bands.
When ordering magic bands MAKE SURE you CHANGE the default shipping address to your own address........its listed as Orbitz main office address as a default !

So far DL isn't doing magic bands. Did that in Jan at WDW and I'm NOT a fan of the bands :)
