Orbitz buy 3 day get 2 free park hopper deal

This might work well for us. We are going in March and already have our tickets. But, we have another trip planned for December. So, if I got the vouchers from Orbitz now and brought them with us in March I could exchange the vouchers for regular cards but not use them on that trip right? Then when we go in December I would be able to link the Orbitz tix to our MDE account and be able to use FP. And there would not be any shipping if I am understanding it correctly you print out a voucher after buying from Orbitz. I have never ordered through them before. Only used UT in the past or direct from WDW.

What is the price difference between a 3-day and a 5-day park hopper? Is it substantial enough?

NVM... I looked it up. You realize you're only talking about an $8 difference, right?

Undercover Tourist has a 3-day park hopper (with 4th day free) as $333.95 with tax.

A 5-day park hopper is $341.87 including tax.

I'd go with Undercover Tourist in a heartbeat and get REAL tickets mailed to me.
Let's compare apples to apples, shall we?

The Orbitz price for a 3-day MYW Hopper w/2 days free is $341.87.
The UT price for a 4-day MYW Hopper w/1 free day is $349.95 (unless you use the Mousesavers link, but we're not permitted to post that price)

Identical tickets in Disney's eyes.

The difference? You get an actual ticket from UT. You get a voucher from Orbitz. The real savings comes from the ebates rebate of 10%, which drops the OOP cost for that 5-day Hopper purchased from Orbitz down by $34.19 PER TICKET! That's a substantial savings in my book and I'm willing to deal with the inconvenience of going to will call to pick up my tickets for that kind of savings when you're talking about purchasing for an entire family.

With the orbitz voucher, you can't do FP+ in advance, correct?

so with the Orbitz deal, you have to wait to do FP+- with the UT option, you can do it ahead of time?
There's a discussion about linking Orbitz vouchers to MDE here:

Apparently, you cannot do it yourself and even some Disney IT people have difficulty handling it. It's a non-issue for me. I plan to be in Disney before my AP expires and I'll pick up the tickets then. You can also designate someone else to pick up the passes for you. So, if you know someone who is headed to Disney soon, you could ask them to stop at any ticket window and pick them up for you.

FYI here now and Disney said orbitz is notorious of not fulfilling these orders in a timely manner. Several calls and days later I was finally able to pick up my ticket. If you are thinking of buying them don't wait til last minute to purchase. It takes a minimum of 5 business days to arrive at disney they told me.

I don't get it. I thought it was a voucher that was emailed. What is there to pick up?

Just an update, I didn't realize there was conference ticket pricing, and that's why I'm going. So I purchased them directly through disney. 2 adult, 2 kid, 5 day PH for $1218 plus tax. Not as cheap as the rebates deal but close enough to make it worth not having to deal with the hassle. The upfront cost compared to orbitz was about $32 cheaper but I lost about $100 in rebate money. I did, however, purchase them with my new Disney Premier Visa, which means I'll recoup some of that in rewards and the $200 statement credit for the new account helps, too.

Grok reading some of the issues people have had with the vouchers, did not think it worth the hassle since we have little kids and not a ton of time.

Yes the voucher is emailed but you have to go to guest services to pick up the actual ticket

Huh. Weird. But at least I bought mine two weeks before we go. I was worried there would be a time delay, but I didn't think it would be five days, maybe three.

Does anyone know if you need to link a name to the ticket when you pick up? I will be going down in March and want to pick up tickets for my brother's family. Obviously the order would need to be in my name in order for me to pick them up. Would I need to assign names to the tickets when I exchange the voucher or do they work like regular tickets and you just swap them out?

You do not need to link a name when you exchange the voucher. They are regular tickets.

Can you pick the tickets us earlier than the "travel date"? I was stupid and put in 9/13 and we are going to parks on 9/15. If there is s glitch does disney call orbitz? I just worry I will be standing there trying to get the tickets issued with my family plotting my death when we miss rope drop.
Can I contact orbitz and move up my travel dates?

After my dealings with them, I would call and change the date just to be sure. I think that May have played into the issue I had

Just wanting to figure something out...

1. Can I order these and pick them up for our trip in October?

2. Once I pick up the physical tickets, do I have to activate them by a certain date (in other words, do these expire)?

3. Our APs will still be good for our October trip, but I was thinking about purchasing these with the WP Fun and More Option. If we do this, and use a WP day, can we then upgrade them to 10 day NE passes, or would we have to use a park day?

1. Yes, just put in your pick up dates. I ordered for late Sept pickup last May and had no problems getting my tickets when I arrived.

2. They are regular MYW tickets. They do not expire until 14 days after their first day of use (unless you choose no expiration when you bought them, in which case, they never expire).

3. Yes, this is a possibility but why not just purchase the 10-day WPF&M with no expiration now and get 20% off the total ticket price now? You'll save a lot more now than if you were to purchase the 5-day hopper and upgrade at the gate later.

I am not sure what to do. Basically, I want to purchase the 5 day tickets to upgrade to AP's with my DVC discount.

If I purchase the non park hopper 5 day tickets for 2 adults and 2 kids, I save $107.14 from the gate price. If I purchase the park hopper 5 day tickets for the same, I save $112.88 from the gate price.

Non park hopper 2 adult 2 kid 5 day tickets will earn $216.71 in cash back while the park hopper will earn $265.83.

I wind up paying $245.60 more for the park hopper option. But will earn $49.12 more in cash back and save an additional $5.74 between what I paid for the tickets and Disney's gate price. So the savings is $54.86.

However, my question is it worth paying an extra $245.60 to save $54.86 since I plan to upgrade my tickets anyway?

I keep going over and over it and I just don't know if it makes sense to pay more.

TIA

The easy answer would be to do the math to find out what your FINAL OOP COST will be.
Cost of adult 5-day Hopper from Orbitz = $341.87
Rebate from Ebates on 5-day Hopper = -$68.37
Cost of 1 DVC AP = $494.16
Gate Value of adult 5-day Hopper = $370.62
OOP cost for upgrade from 5-day hopper to DVC AP = $123.54
Total OOP cost = $341.87 - $68.37 + $123.54 = $397.04

Cost of adult 5-day non-hopper from Orbitz = $280.09
Rebate from Ebates on 5-day non-hopper = -$56.02
Cost of 1 DVC AP = $494.16
Gate Value of adult 5-day non-hopper = $307.79
OOP cost for upgrade from 5-day non-hopper to DVC AP = $186.37
Total OOP cost = $280.09 - $56.02 + $186.37 = $410.44

So, you'll spend more money now if you buy the 5-day hoppers at Orbitz but you will save more money in the long run if you do.

Thank you! That's what I thought but I just kept doing it over and over it my head that it no longer made sense to me.

I bought the park hoppers! I plan to pick them up on my April trip but we don't need them until our December trip.

Does anyone know how long it takes for your rebate to show up in your ebates account. I know they mail checks out quarterly, just not sure how long it takes for it to be posted as earned.
