Is Orange Lake Vermont any good? If you stayed at their Brownsville resort, it would be great if you could let me know what it's like in terms of amenities, service, guestrooms, attractions. Orange Lake Vermont used to be called Holiday Inn Club Vacations at Ascutney Mountain Resort.

it is more likely it is called Holiday Inn Vacation Club now since that is the newest twist on Orange Lake timeshares unless of course they have changed "oars" in the last month.....

I'd suggest going out to the resort web site - http://orangelake.com/ascutney/home.html. There's a note at the site that says "Orange Lake Vermont is evolving to provide you a newer, more comfortable and contemporary vacation experience. Because of this, certain resort amenities under renovation will be temporarily unavailable for guest use. For more information, please call the resort at 802.484.7711."

I've not seen this resort but understand that it is an older facility that hasn't had the upgrades that you'd expect of a top line timeshare resort. I think that being purchased by and included in the Holiday In/Orange Lake family is a good sign that the level of quality will improve here. However, if you're planning to go during the off season - pretty much anytime other than ski season - the upgrading work will probably be going on. I'd suggest that you call the resort number to get an idea of what work they're doing and how that might affect a stay.

Many thanks for your feedback. Very helpful and insightful. It seems like Florida timeshares are gradually moving north (Orange Lake, Vacation Village).

My understanding is that Orange Lake has done a lot of work on the resort in the last year. I was there last year at the time that OLCC took over all of the resort; let's just say, politely, that it needed a lot of work (the only place that I had been that had been worse was Summer Bay in Orlando and that unit had been scheduled to be renovated the next month). I have reservations to be back there over the 4th (same time as last) but I may have to cancel them. It was very peaceful, which is what I had been looking for but they did have fireworks on the resort on the 3rd which was neat and fireworks on the top of the mountain on the 4th.
