Orange Lake Country Club is a big resort in Kissimmee on Rt. 192(the property abutts Animal Kingdom). Built by the originator of the Holiday Inn hotel chain, OLCC is rather unique in its size and resort amenities. I think that the resort started operation in the early 1990s and they've methodically added sections as time as progressed - the most recently added section is newly opened next to the resort's water park section. Some of the original sections of the resort look old in comparison to the newer sections but we've always found our accommodations to be nice and clean and have been very happy on each of the three occaisions that we've stayed there. There's a huge pool area near the main clubhouse in the West Village section, a nice pool area in the North Village, a smaller pool set up (unless they've changed it since our last visit) in the East Village and the new water park pool area in the new section.
We really liked OLCC and would stay there again.

We love it...

The river Island is great ...but you have to get there early to get a seat...
The Olympic pool is our favorite...

Enjoy it now because the are filling it in and making it different ... We were also told that Kemmons is closing and making it into a kids club thing..

And they bought the land across the street form the East Village...

I don't know what the pool hours are, but the hours are long. And yes they have a lot of activities going on all day. OLCC is a family-oriented, activities filled resort. Go here http://www.olcc.com/home.html for lots of OLCC info.

This kind of place doesnt appeal to me and we have stayed at most of the timeshares in the area. First of all I dont like having to drive all over the place to get to most things to do and secondly I have heard about getting the older not as nice units unless you are the owner.

I think the size of Vistana is about as big as I would want a resort to be

Suzyq9241- We've been owners since it all opened...we're going down 5/11...what's the deal with the Olympic pool? We go in May and October and it's always busy and crowded!! I can't understand them closing Kemmon's either...it's always been pretty busy while we're there.
They called us the other day and have some kind of "Anniversary" special the first few nights that we're there...and wanted to know if we wanted to join in. A cocktail party, show, dinner at DTD and then attend a 90 minute meeting on Sunday I think. We always go to their presentations...but only usually to find out what is going on. Last time they wanted us to buy into the II deal..but we didn't. I feel like that they will this time too. It seems like everytime we go there is something else "in the wind".

I own at OLCC and it is my favorite resort. One of the reasons that I like it is because of its size. I like the fact that the size allows OLCC to provide a variety of activities. I also enjoy the original section (West Village). In the Orlando area, all new resorts build multi-story units, including OLCC as shown by the construction in the East Village and River Island. Where else can you find single-story units that are at ground level without having neighbors above or below you (there may be neighbors on either side)?

The West Village Golf Villas have a charm that newer building don't have. Some like it and some don't but that really is a personal choice. One thing that the Golf Villas don't have is the oversized whirlpool bathtubs that are in the newer units but the renovations are including regular-sized whirlpool bathtubs in these areas. And yes, the pool areas and various amenities may require a walk or a short drive but there are also the shuttles available to use as well. It adds a certain charm to a relaxing rather than a rushed vacation. Again this is a personal choice and depends on what the makeup of the family. Those with younger children may like being closer to the pools.

We've been twice (2004 and 2005). We aren't owners, but both times we stayed in the East Village. First time we were traded in by a friend of ours who owns in Myrtle Beach. Second time we came back on an offer from OLCC to try them again (and attend a presentation). The presentation was not fun for 90 min, but the guys (my dh and dad) got 18 holes of golf on the new course with cart and club rental for our effort!!! They thought it was worth that!!

Yes, we had to drive to a pool. We actually drove up to the West Village part as we found the pool tucked in behind the first set of buildings near the front, to be the quietest for the kids. Splash area was too crowded and my youngest didnt' like all the rowdiness of the bigger kids as she is a tad timid. We didn't mind the drive over! From the looks of the above photos, River Island is beautiful!!! Maybe we should try this place again!
