Orange Lake Resort question

We are thinking of staying at Orange Lake in Jan. I have read that there are older sections and newer sections. Does anyone know if you are more likely to get a newer room on a certain check in day? We are going through RCI on a bonus vacation, and have the option of checking in on a Friday or Saturday. Any help would be appreciated!!

We checked in on a Friday and they had us in the old section-"West Villlas" and I asked to be moved and was given a 2 br in the north village.

Every one likes different things. We like the West Village much better than North Village. West Village is where most activities are at and not as far to go to them as a result. It is all what you want out of the resort.
I am waiting to see feedback on new water park supposedly opening in East Village this year.

When does that water park open in the east village? Also, what rooms are near the "splash lagoon" pool?

We checked in on Sunday and were given a unit in the West Village. We, too, were quite satisfied with our unit. It was nice to park right in front of the door and to have a shorter drive to the entrance/exit. I agree with iluvflorida...everyone likes different things! We were in the parks almost every day and did not take advantage of any onsite amenities, so our unit suited us well.
