Disers expert advice needed. Staying at Orange Lake for two weeks and need advice on which section of the property to try and secure a unit for. OLCC is currently building a new water recreation area with lazy river etc. which will be located next to the East Village. Is this a newer more desireable section or should I try for somewhere else on property?
In your valued opinion, where at OLCC did you stay, and did you find it to be up to Gold Crown Standards? :confused3

You will get a variety of answers to this but if you look at the majority of the reviews, you will find that OLCC is rated positively. As far as the River Island units are concerned, the policy is that only River Island owners may use and exchange into River Island units. Everybody, of course, is welcome to use the River Island recreation facilities. These units are scheduled to open in late April/ early May if they are on schedule. I think all the sections have advantages and disadvantages but it really depends on what you are looking for in a resort. OLCC is big, roughly 1250 acres, so you will need to use a car or the shuttles. Some people like small, cozy resorts next to a pool. The odds are that you will be a little distance from a pool so that using a car is recommended if you don't like to walk a few blocks. There are lots of amentities at OLCC and I think that you would enjoy the resort but again, it depends on what you are looking for in a resort.

I have a question for Orange Lake Veterans as well...

I have the opportunity to exchange for a studio. Its just me and my wife and aren't too picky on the size of units. What intrigues me is that the site says all studios are located in the clubhouse. Does this mean that the location on the resort would be in the center of it all? It would be nice not to have to rent a car.

(BTW, This is my 1st post, thanks to all for letting me lurk and post occasionally. I am taking my wife to WDW to celebrate her finally graduating with her teching credendial after 13 years of attending college off and on)

You are correct, it is in the clubhouse and it is located at the center of much of the activity at OLCC. I don't think there are any outside windows and the windows face inside overlooking the main floor. I've stayed in them once; the unit I stayed in was basically a hotel room with 2 bedrooms and the kitchen. There is a laundry down the hall (no charge) that you can use as well. The pool, the beach activities, miniture golf, and the tennis courts are just outside the clubhouse. The movie theater, some restraurants, store, Internet Cafe', and other activities are inside the building.

You probably could take the transportation from the resort to the parks but I think you are better off renting a car. If you use the transportation, your schedule will be determined by the transportation schedule to and from the resort. Onsite transportation using the resort shuttles to the various locations should not be an issue as I think they run every 20 minutes. There are 23 shuttles, so they should be reasonably on time.

We've stayed at a number of timeshares and did not have a good experience at OLCC. We stayed at one of the tall buildings in the front when you come through the gate. It was a dirty place. Hopefully you'll have better luck but we won't go back.

 My family (14 of us) has been going there for the past 10 yrs or so and we stayed in every section..... The best one was by the olympic pool... although the last section was the East ..... We enjoy OLCC everytime we go.....
In fact I am trying to decide if we should go back in Sept, Oct, or Nov this year..... You will enjoy yourself there and you really don't need a car there....
