Orange Lake CC - Opinions?

I've got 24 hours to decide whether to take an RCI exchange into a 2 bedroom at Orange Lake Country Club for third week in April. I'm happy with the location as we'll be more central later in our stay, but am unsure about the quality of the resort.

I have done some digging over on the Hotels board, but opinion seems to be divided - Just wondering whether any UK DIS'ers had any experience of this resort.

Our travelling party will be me, DW, DS 3yrs, DD 6 months, MIL, GMIL. We probably won't do many park visits during this week - perhaps Busch, and maybe MK - so it would be useful to know if this is a good resort to just hang out - esp for DS.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I haven't stayed on this resort, but I've played golf round it a few times and know people who have stayed. They were all happy with the resort. The rooms looked a decent size and there are a number of swimming pools around the place.

It isn't that far out, if you take the back route into WDW it should take you 10-15 minutes to get to AK or BB. There are a lot of decent restaurants that are within 10 minutes drive. If you're going to Busch it's probably quicker to head west on 192 until you get to I27, take that south to I4 then I4 takes you to Tampa. It cuts out a little of the congestion on the 192 and I4 interchange.

We Stayed at Orange lake in october and found it great. There was entertainment in the evening and the choice of pools are fantastic(complex is large so you have to drive to some areas).Good pizza to eat in or takeaway, but avoid the prime rib buffet! My youngest daughter is 4 and loved the various shallow pools and made several friends, whilst my 8 yr old learned to swim in the bigger kids pool. Also great location for any of the parks-only about 50 mins to busch gardens which is brilliant for kids.Hope this helps

We too stayed there (for the second time) in October.

The accommodation is very good....spacious, with all the kitchen facilities you need. There are TVs in each bedroom, as well as the living room.

The resort is massive, as has already been said. It has great swimming facilities, as well as other sporting facilities. It has a few eateries and bars and a free cinema which shows three films a day - many Disney. The cinema is good for letting the kids relax of an evening whilst the adults enjoy a little refreshment in the bar 20 yards away....both inside the main clubhouse.

I would certainly go for it:sunny: :sunny:

Hi

We are owners at Orange Lake and love it there. We've been back to stay 3 times now and find the standards are well maintained. Whilst I would not recommend the studio apartments in the main club house, the two and three bed accommodation are really good.

We own a two bedroomed villa that is single storey, just like a bungalow but in the row of four, (one of the reasons we bought it, no one on top or below). As you enter, the kitchen is to one side and a dinining area with table and chairs next to it towards the lounge, the second bedroom on the other side of the kitchen.

The master bedroom is spacious and has an en suite bathroom. Two double beds in the other bedroom and a double sofa bed in the lounge.

They have several pools you can choose from, one with a slide and even an olympic sized one.

There are many shops and restaurants on the 192, and not far from a Walmart! :p

Sorry for going on. Anyway, I would recommend OLCC and we're going back for 3 weeks next August! Can't wait. Hope you and your family have a great time. :p

I have stayed ther as part of the rci exchange and in a two bedroom villa, it was really good, the onsite facilities are excellent.

Go for it!!

Thanks for all the feedback - very reassuring, and 'she who thinks she makes the decisions' has given her approval, so it must be OK.
