Who the heck is Sierra? Who picks the entertainment for these games? I don't think the entertainment really fits the demographics of who attend/watch the games. Since this is ABC, I'm sure "Sierra is either on the Disney Channel or has a show on ABC...can't miss a chance to self-promote one of their own.

Let us see the marching bands perform...they've worked just as hard...let's give them their due.

The guys announcing the game sure make you miss Keith Jackson and some of the older announcers who are no longer with us....Turico's not too bad, if he'll just stick to calling the game...the other guy should just shut up and quit trying to give his "expert" analysis of everything that happens. The tv sound is now OFF...much better.

I did not watch the show. However, I do know that there is a contemporary Christian group (all female group) named Sierra. I really like a few of their songs. Since I didn't watch the show I can't say that it was them. Was the group all female?

I've only been to one Orange Bowl .... when Arkansas beat Oklahoma many, many years ago. The half-time show was the best ever..... the introduction of Disney's Electric Light Parade. What a treat!

We stuck around, because it was announced that Aerosmith would be the halftime show.

Well, turns out it was Aerosmith "highlights" . . . only about 20 seconds of an Aerosmith video with highlights of the first half.

And that Sierra or Ciara was totally unlistenable :crazy2:

Ciara (however you spell her name) actually had a very big 2005. Unfortunately, I can't stand her songs!

Hey, last year the halftime entertainment was Ashlee Simpson who got booed! (Kelly Clarkson, who I love performed too)

But that being said, I hate the current trend with bowl games. I hate the trend towards halftime shows with recording artists. Marching bands really deserve the moment in the spotlight. I was a member of my college marching band for all 4 years of school and we worked our butts off. And sure, they receive a free trip to a bowl game, but I guarantee you most of the marhcing band members of both schools would ahve loved to have been on that field performing during halftime. I remember my freshman year, my school traveled to the Holiday Bowl in San Diego. Performing on the field for both pre-game and halftime was a rush.

If you are happy with any prime time halftime show - just thank Janet Jackson!

I went to that game too!!! As I recall, we all given flashlights and pieces of colored plastic. Then at designated times, you would shine your flashlight throught the proper color. So you got to be a part of the show, sort of.

Agree!!

I think they are all trying to imitate the Super Bowl, with the recording artists. But I'd much rather see the marching bands for the colleges. After all, these are COLLEGE teams, not NFL!

Now, that being said, I do admit that I am looking forward to seeing the Rolling Stones at this year's Super Bowl!!

The WI Badgers played against Auburn, in Orlando Florida. We were so excited, because 2 girls from our town was suppose to be in the half-time show. They showed about 2.2 seconds of the WI marching band. After the commercial Auburn got about 2.2 seconds. Then we had to listen to more intermission play-by-play of what happened the 1st half. Hello, we were watching the game.

When the girls came on with some Hip Hop Band, they showed the band, and about 2.2 seconds of the girls. The Hip Hop Band were holding their instruments while the music was playing and looking at each other, like they didn't know what to do. Apparently nobody told them they had to lipsync and pretend to play their guitars and drums. It was actually more funny, but kinda sad. And they got about 5.2 seconds of air time.

It was a popular artist Ciara not Sierra, and she's not on the disney channel. She's pretty big in the hip hop scene.

That said, I thought the show sucked.

Thats fine with the super Bowl. I'm ok with that. But, did you know that early Super Bowls (at least the first one) did have marching bands perform at halftime. My college's band was one of the bands to perform at the first Super Bowl!

Also, someone mentioned Wisconsin/Auburn. I was at Universal Studios on Dec. 31st, and in the afternoon, both college's marching bands performed on the steps of the NY Library facade. It was so much fun watching other college bands do their thing.

I'd even settle for "Up with People" over the garbage we see now.

I agree with a previous post about how too much time is spent re-capping what we just watched, while you can see a tiny piece of the marching band over the talking head's shoulder. So many of the game commentators seem to enjoy hearing themselves speak, but they're not saying anything...it's just blah blah blah blah blah blah......

My cousin Bill....and the other folks on the Orange Bowl committee. I told him I thought Ciara was kinda lame. But he didn't listen ;)

My DD plays in the University of Maryland Marching Band and is hoping to make it to a Bowl Game before she graduates. Her friend is in the Penn State band so we watched hoping to see him. I would much rather see the marching bands than anything else at halftime.
