Options to get to Universal Studios from CBR?

I am looking to stay at the CBR but plan to visit Universal Studios over the course of 2 days sometime during our stay at DW with the family.

I'm trying to figure out what options that I may have to get to Universal Studios. At worst, I can rent a car for 2 days to drive over from CBR....which may be the most convenient.....but I am guessing that I'm not the only to visit Universal Studios while staying at a Disney Resort.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

We always use the Mears shuttle. It's $19.00 r/t (not incuding gratuity of course). The number is 407-423-5566.

You can either pick up the vouchers at the Mears desk in the airport (right next to the DME desk) or you can just call Mears the day before, to arrange a pick up time. If you buy the vouchers in the airport you can use a credit card, but if you wait and call, then you must pay the driver exact cash. Even if you buy the vouchers in the airport, you'll still need to call the day before to arrange a pick up time, as the vouchers can be used any day you want. A couple of hours before you're ready to leave Universal, you'll just need to give them another call to arrange a pick up time back to WDW.

You do need to call to arrange your pick up times though. I know last year, we had a family try to get on our van and the driver said he wasn't supposed to have that many passengers. They had just come running up and asked if he was going to Universal and when he said yes, jumped in. Another family came up about that time and there were not enough seats. Come to find out, someone had told the first family that they could just catch a Mears van outside their resort to Universal. They didn't know they had to make a reservation. The driver explained to them that they needed to make a reservation beforehand and that he didn't have room to take them. They had to get out of the van and the second family got in.

We have used the Ticket and Transport Option from Mears, it's only about $10 more than a Ticket itself

We have also taken a Taxi, was about $30 oneway from POR and $50 oneway from AKL, we were in a hurry to get there that trip, wasn't very cost effective but it was quite quick

We went to Universal last time we were down and rented a car for the day. It was so simple and we didn't have to worry about calling the shuttle to get picked up. The rental was $35 and we used the Disney Car Rental (Alamo, near MK). It was simple.
