Options to get from MCO to Port Canaveral other than DCL bus

We're going on a cruise in June (specifically the Podcast Cruise), and we're working on how we're getting there. We are flying down late the night before (due to a dance recital unexpectedly being scheduled the day before), likely staying at the Hyatt at MCO, and then driving over in the morning.

We need to get 4 adults and 4 children to Port Canaveral.

The DCL bus as I understand it is $35/head. So we're thinking of renting one-way. The options are limited, but a quick check with Thrifty shows I can get an SUV or even a Crown Vic in the $60 area. Two of those would be cheaper than the bus by far!

It seems that all the rental car places are a decent distance from the actual port - do they provide a shuttle at those locations?

When we get back, we'd then rent a car for the rest of the stay at WDW...

We did one ways with Budget. It isn't far from the terminal to the rental agency, maybe 1 mile :confused3 I would suggest dropping your party off at the port then running the car over to the office and have them shuttle you back. It will be easier that way than to shuttle 8 people + luggage as your whole party would fill up the van. I would do the same thing on the return.

We've done a one way car rental with Dollar and they share an office with Thrifty. They did have a free shuttle. I only do the rental car when I find an amazing deal that I can't pass up such as in Oct when I got a full size for $26 incl taxes.
Otherwise a car service is only a little bit more in $ (especially when splitting the cost with others) but it's a whole lot more convenient. We like Happy Limo and they do offer one way service if you really want a car while in WDW.

:) When DH and I travel back and forth to MCO we only use Tiffany Towncar. We have always been very pleased with their service and have used their larger van several times - I think at least 9 passenger--or it seemed like that. They have never been late to pick us up or drop us off. They do take folks to Cape Canaveral. There is an online coupon I think.

Yes! You can get a chauffeur driven van for less than a rental or a taxi ! :thumbsup2
