We loved Opryland as well. I agree that most of the rides had passed their prime but the entertainment and atmosphere of the old place was nice. We visited this fall (DD and I spent the day at Opry Mills while the boys went to the Titans game). We went over to the Grand Ole Opry area and browsed around, went in the gift shop and the little museum. It was really sad. We also went and looked at the rocks remaining from Grizzly River.
We started to go over the Opryland Hotel and just look around, it is quiet amazing inside, almost an entire little city inside with the boat ride, etc. But they have put up parking bars throughout the parking lot so that you just can't park and go in to browse around anymore......unless you want to pay $18.00 to park......
