Did anyone else enjoy Orpah's show today about saving money? I liked the part where he talks about cutting out the 'small' things and how much that adds up. My grandfather had a savings that I have always tried to apply in my life. He said, "If you watch the pennies, the dollars will follow."

I also thought it was interesting when they talked to a couple who wanted to save money AND take their kids to Disney World. I really think that so many people put off vacations because they don't realize how they can do it for a reasonable price. Our AAA magazine came recently, and they had a story on going to Disney World. I told my DH that I could have written a much more useful article on how to go to WDW for a LOT less than this family did, and still have a great time!

Anyway, it always amuses me how often Disney World is brought up.

that is weird how it is usually disney that families with children bring up as a vacation out of reach when really it isn't. there is a woman at my job who knows how often i go and asked me how we did it so often and still paid bills. she had me outline a trip plan for her and she is planning a trip for 5 this spring! i think slowly more and more people are realizing that they too can afford disney. they just have to do disney on their terms and their family's budget. sorry i missed oprah though. i'm always interested to hear how others save for things.

I know what you guys mean. I have been trying to convince my sister for 4 years that she could go to Disney World with us, my Mom and brother already have for 3 years now! She just thinks there is no way she can afford it and is kind of offended that we go every year. If you plan in advance and have realistic expectations there is no reason Disney World has unobtainable.

My DH and I fell into that catagory of thinking that we could never afford to take our kids to WDW. Then one day (much to my amasement) I stumbled across this site and the rest is history. By no means are we the well to do and have all this extra money lying around, but we can afford to take our kids on nice vacations that they will never forget!! It does take some planning, prep work and a little help from my friends here at the DIS, but it can be done and can be done without spending a ton of money. We are a family of 5 and this will be our second trip with our girls. I only wish I had found this out much sooner so we could have had many more memories with our two oldest girls as babies at Disney!!

Cya There!!
