Going to the world for 9 nights on a semi solo trip .I'm trying to decide if I should do the quick service plan or out of pocket? Some nights I will be visiting and eating with family out of the parks and others I will be solo eating inside the parks. What do you recommend ?

Just to break even on the plan, you need to "spend" $17 at EVERY meal and have a $4 snack EVERY time. If there's any chance you won't be able to do that, then I'd go OOP.

It's not difficult to do that as most entrees are at least $10, drinks are now $3, and desserts are right at $4. The desserts are our deal breaker because we don't really want them.

If you are going to spend several days eating somewhere other than at Disney World restaurants, then a dining plan is likely not the best choice for you (if the monetary value of the plan matters to you. There are some who only want the perceived "lack of stress" in having the meals prepaid and don't consider the monetary value at all)

If you want the feeling of having your meals prepaid, you can put some money on a Disney gift card and use it for meals. The advantage to this is that, unlike the dining plan, any funds you don't spend on eating can be used to purchase anything else at WDW.
