So I was looking at MerandaB4's restaurant pics (Very cute BTW) and I noticed that she cut a picture in half and placed one 1/2 on 1 page and the other 1/2 on the other page, I have also noticed in some of the sketches in Creating Keepsakes that they do this as well.

So do you cut your pics like that?

I'm kind of torn about the whole thing. Does it really lay nicely in thicker albums so you get the idea of a split picture? Does it look kind of seamless? I feel the same way about mosaics, I love the mosaic look but would I get the same result I see in a magazine? My mom bought the mosaic grid at CKC Valley Forge but we haven't tried it yet.

Opinions and pictures please! :wave2:

I have to confess here. I've only actually scrapped two pages using 4 photos. I cut one of the photos to fit (luckily it was totally chaos in the backgroung so I didn't lose any feeling of the photo). It killed me to cut the photo. So I am one who just can't do it. I agree it looks awesome in the examples people show. But my mindset just won't let me do it.
I also don't know how to choose just the right photos from a lot. The first two pages were of my oldest wrapping his first present and those were the only pictures of it. I had to make a two page because I couldn't cut all the photos to make it fit on one.
So all in all, I am so no help for you. Just thought you'd like to hear from a scrapping sissy. ;)

I crop pictures. I have no problem at all with that. Elbows in the way, unknown folks in the background? All gone. Very liberating. Cutting them to fit on 2 pages. Don't think I can do it. I use CM books and there is a gap and I don't like that in a picture. For me, my books are all about the pictures. (I'm a visual person and I love my pictures for memories...). So, to summarize, I don't think I could do it. :rolleyes1

I've not tried cutting a picture to fit the 2 pages in a lo.. I think the only way I would do it is if it weren't my kids or me and DH... maybe ones of family and friends... therefore it doesn't have as much sentimental value.. but I have been known to cut out unwanted picture people if they are away from the "vision" of my photo...

I'll crop a photo like crazy but I don't think I can cut a pic with people in it. Maybe a food shot, or an animal. I may experiment by photocopying the picture and then cutting it in half. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

I have, but I won't do it if it is going in a CM album. Too much of a gap, as another poster said. I will say, however, the picture I cut had just DS in it in a pile of leaves and the way I cut it, he was on one side and rest of the pile was on another. If I get a few minutes after football (priorities ya know! :rotfl: ), I will take a pic of the layout and upload it so I can post it. :)

LOL! Kaddjr are you watching the COLTS? LOL
So far so good.. 2 touchdowns in 7 minutes... can't beat that!
Ok, off to a soccer game.. someone schedule soccer games at the same time as the Colts play. off to grab the portable radio!

DH takes most of our photos & he tends to fill the view finder - so it was difficult for me to get excited about the CM cutting system. LOL Much of the time all I do is round the corners - or just nothing! If I'm doing a circle journal I actually have to resize the photos so I can use more than one! :lmao Once they're resized I can do more cropping too.

Just recently I hit a really big sale on Coluzzle stuff and got the template for making a mosaic...just lines really, but more convenient than measuring everything. I haven't used it yet, but have really liked the look of mosaics when other people have done them. I'm hoping to try it out once I get done reorganizing my scrap area.

DH tends to fill the frame as well so I told him to give me a little trimming room. I even pulled out a sketches book to show him the different sizes I need. He's learning. I also need more portrait type shots not all landscape. It's really hard to scrap pics when they are all horizontal.

I have done a few layouts with the picture cut to fit both pages. I dont cut on a person. I like the way it comes out. I dont have big spaces in my albums so it flows nice. Also I tried a long time ago cutting the side of a picture into small strips and then placing it down with a small space between it. Comes out great especially with a picture of flowers or plants.

There are some pictures that I wont crop - professional wedding pictures for one. Cant bring myself to do it.

Yeppers! That was a good game! Although I do think they need to get their running game together and the D needs to get better. ;) That's a bummer about the soccer game. I was invited to an all day get together (CM) and another one from 1:00-5:00- I declined both. :teeth: Sunday is football day at my house! :rotfl: A girl has to have priorities and mine is football- especially Colts football! :thumbsup2

That's what scanners are for!!! Making lots of copies of photos so you can crop and cut at will. Or make dupes from negs or CDs at the photo machines or counters at stores. You can do lots of fun splitting and layering things with multiple copies of the same photos. I like to take two photos and cut out the main figure from one and put it on little foam pieces on top of the same photo so it pops out (even inside a page protector, it adds some depth and fun to the page).

In a long ago era (Victorian I thnk) they made special long thin tall photo frames, so if part of a couple was no longer around, a photo could be cut and the remaining person could be saved in the frame. (Photos were so less common, they didn't want to waste one). It's wonderful how much flexibility we have now.

Yep I have some of those frames, today they are called lovers quarrel frames. www.victoriantradingco.com

I have a few family photos where the pictures have been folded back.
