Why do so many take offense if you have one that differs from theirs?

I see that so much around here and it's one thing that drives me nuts.

Sometimes I think it has more to do with how the different opinion is delivered rather it just being a difference of opinion, especially on chat boards.

Aw c'mon with your time on the boards (# of posts) I'll venture more than this drives you nuts....'fess up, there must be something else...maybe how an innocent OP asks a question and then it turns into a debate about other subjects and then Wham!

then you have to shake your head & go back to the 1st page just to figure out what the heck the OP asked in the first place

Believe it or not there really isn't much that bugs me here. Heck, I like a good train wreck as the next person. I just don't get why people get so huffy because someones expresses their opinion.
Although I do hate back-peddling, even though that can be entertaining to watch.

What drives me nuts is when people will hear a different opinion and they start with "this is America and I'm entitled to free speech."

Oh for crying out loud. People need to understand that THAT means they won't be thrown in JAIL for expressing their opinion. It does not mean they are immune to being told they are an idiot for expressing their opinion.

I don't take offense that someone doesn't share my opinion. They are entitled to be wrong.

Right. Some are used to just speaking their mind (and having others speak their mind to them) and it doesn't bother them. Others are used to more finesse and tact.
