Hi, I am hoping to get some opinions on deluxe oceanview rooms on the Magic. We have been on 5 cruises; 4 on the Dream/Fantasy in deluxe family room with veranda and our last one was on the Magic in a one bedroom concierge. We (family of 5; 3 boys ages 15, 12, 6) are booked on the Fjords/Iceland cruise on the Magic next summer in 2 adjoining deluxe oceanview rooms (2582 & 2584) on deck 2. I am a little bit freaking out about not having a veranda and also about being so low on the ship, but I am loving the fact that we'll have two bathrooms. I am super excited about this cruise, but don't want to be totally disappointed with our view (or lack thereof) from our room. Also, does anyone know if these rooms are the same interior size as a veranda room. Would love to hear opinions!! Thanks!

Well, sort of, the rooms have the "same" interior size. The rooms on the Magic class ships are larger than the equivalent category rooms on the Dream class. Dream class oceanview room = 204 sq feet. Magic class = 214 sq feet.

The large porthole makes it quite bright and not at all "closed in".

We've been in those rooms on the Magic and Wonder. Have another cruise on the Wonder coming up and will be in that room cat again. I love deck 2. We spend very little time in our cabin, so a veranda isn't important to us. We open the curtain and enjoy the view while getting ready for the day/bedtime. Saw dolphins swimming next to the boat one time. Love being so close to the water, have been on deck 5 on the Fantasy, prefer deck 2.

My parents and I had those CONNECTING (they are adjoining in that they are next to each other, but they also connect with a door in between - there IS a difference in the terms in travel verbiage just for any future requests you might make in hotel situations) cabins on the Magic and loved them. I mean, they were too midship for my taste (I like to feel the motion of the ocean so I like being as far forward as possible), but they were great cabins.

Our only cruise was on deck 2 on the Wonder, oceanview rm 2116. We loved it! Loved being so close to the water, good view of anything that is near the water. It's only 2 decks from the walking area of deck 4 if you wanted to go outside.

Your room will be smaller than the 'family' size verandah on the Dream as it doesn't have the room that was needed for a 5th bed, but is the same size as the regular verandah rooms on the Magic/Wonder.

We cruised on Deck 2 - porthole stateroom - once, every other time we had a verandah. It IS different, not having that open air access at the end of the stateroom. The view was fine and we didn't really feel better or worse, being lower on the ship than normal. It was still a great time. But - just IMHO - it is different and not as good. But having the extra space (& bathroom) would offset that, with connecting rooms.

Being lower had no bearing on our enjoyment at all....we have been on Deck 2 the most out of all our cruises (38). We also like being close to the water....views are great. We have also been on most decks of the ships and really find no real difference in views.

If find Deck 2 so convenient....most decks are walkable from there and for the others its just an elevator ride away. So convenient when coming or going on or off the ship in port.
