When I go to WDW in October I was thinking about trying Jiko's at the AKL, but I really don't know anything about this restaurant.
Would you please share with me your opinions of Jiko? Was the food tasty? Overly priced? (As Disney Restaraunts go!?!?) What about the service and atmosphere? What meal did you thoroughly enjoy and which would you say to never try? I really appreciate any ideas or info you could share. THANK YOU!!!

I tried Jiko in May and I enjoyed it but it isn't quite the usual way you would get some of your food. I ordered the beef rolls as an appetizer and they were great. Seasoned ground beef rolled in some sort of dough and deep fried. I could have eaten a load of them. I had the salad with curry buttermilk dressing. This was good too though it had flower sprinkled on top and flower tend to taste a bit perfumey! My entre was the filet on macaroni and cheese with mushroom ragout. It was very good and the macaroni and cheese has a stonger more "adult" flavor than what you normally get at WDW. They went well together. There also flower sprinkled on the side of this as well. They mixed well with the macaroni and cheese.
The service was very good and I liked the atmosphere. Though it is not spectacular it is a bit artsy and fun. I was alone on this trip but would go back and take friends with me. If you have not seen the menu check wdwig.com and go to the dining section.

Jiko is my absolute favorite WDW restaurant. I love the calming decor, the inspired and somewhat exotic fare, and the impeccable service.

I can't say enough about this place. It's where I chose to ahve my birthday dinner this year--the other choice was private dining on the Grand 1 Yacht--so I guess that says something about the place :D

I don't recall what I ate, but it was good. I know that at least once I have had a steak there and it was excellent. The mood is very nice and the servers I have had are well versed in the menu and wines. They can walk you thur some of the different items and I feel certain that if you have special request they would try to accomdate you. On my solo trip there I ate at the food prep bar and it was pretty interesting.

We had one spectacular (and costly) meal there that was very worth it. DH had the infamous filet on mac & cheese and it was superb. I had a steamed fish (?sea bass) that was excellent, but I thought the serving was very small. Since we had appetizers and dessert, this turned out to be OK. The atmosphere is pretty serene, unless there are screaming kids. The server was very good and explained a lot and guided us in making our choices.

The second meal was a little disappointing. My choice was fine, but DH didn't do so well with the pork chop. The server recommended it very highly and prepared him for it being cooked to be pink in the middle, which was the best way to serve it and safe to eat. The chop was dry and overcooked. He should have sent it back, but didn't, so I consider that his problem (he used to be a waiter and has all sorts of stories about what goes on in the kitchen when food is sent back --- I know, juvenile kid stuff from years ago). Still, it was a disappointing meal.

I'd still recommend Jiko, but not as enthusiastically as I used to.

We had a big dinner at Jiko to celebrate my son's graduation form college. We were a varied party, from my light-eating in-laws to my heartier dad and sibs, and from 18 to 80 years old. Every one of us loved the meal and the ambience. It was very expensive, but we felt it was worth it for the special occasion. We liked the wines, too.

We loved Jiko- I had the Monkfish which was fabulous. Our Server was top Notch also! Jill

The one time that my wife and I ate there, it was fantastic. I had the steak on mac and cheese, and even though I was worried about it from that description it was perfect.

The flatbreads were great too. We're going back when we're in WDW again in August, and I hope it lives up to the memory.

We ate dinner at Jiko about three weeks ago. It was awesome!
We're not one to splurge on a meal, but we definelty felt that Jiko was worth every penny.

Our server was great. She was the best that we have ever had on property.

We had the olive flatbread for appetizer.

I had the lambshank. Tasted soooo good. DH had the monkfish.

I loved the ambience of the place. I can't get over how pretty the blue ceiling is.

Jikos is always an absolute must for us. Great atmosphere, food and service. Filet with mac and cheese, pork tenderloin with mini sweet potato dumplings and chocolate banana bread ending

I didn't post the question, but I can't take it anymore! All this talk about the food there...I'm making a PS on this restaurant...and that's final!

Well, I DID post the question and I have to say thank you to everyone that responded! I was VERY leary about going to this restaraunt, but certainly this many people responding with so many positive responses..... well, you all can't be wrong....right? So, you've talked me into it , and, because I love steak, that is what I am going to have. Thanks agian for your views- it's helped me to be looking forward to eating there now! You guys are the greatest.

I've eaten there about 6 times and its great!

My husband is a selective eater and he likes most of what we ordered. I loved it all.

An employee went to dinner with me last October and ordered the pork chop, she too, said it was too under cooked! She thought the meal was OK, but she is very picky and got grossed out by the pork chop. She raved about the appetizers and wine, dessert and coffee.

My DH and I make it a must do along with Spoodles and California Grille.

My husband and I went last month for our adult dinner out. He had the filet and I had the shrimp. We shared the olive flatbread. The flatbread was to die for we both simply loved it. My husband said the filet was the best he had ever eaten. The shrimp was good but not great. The ambiance was very nice and we had a very knowledgable server. We both really enjoyed our meal at Jiko. Will for sure be going back.

Jiko's is one of our favorite restaurants at WDW. We have eaten here on our last 2 trips. On our last trip we started with the olive flatbread and it was out of this world. For our entrees my wife had the beef tenderloin w/ macroni & cheese which was fantastic, the best M/C we had ever had. I had the pork tenderloin w/ sweet potato dumpling and it was great also. I had a press pot of coffee with my meal that was great, very good coffee. Jiko's is one WDW restaurant not to be missed.
