A friend of mine highly recommends this restaurant.

Anyone care to tell me about their experiences there?

We were there this past August for dinner. We loved it. The food was very good and plentiful. And my kids really enjoyed the activities.

Another thumbs up here! Great food, great atmosphere, great location! This is our #1 favorite restaurant - anywhere!!!

We loved the food and activities, however we were seated closer to the bar/lounge area and were definitely isolated from much of the "goings-on". By the time our kids got over to the hoola hoops, they were all taken. So if you like the fun and noise ask to be saeted accordingly.

We love 'Ohana! We enjoy the food, we enjoy the festivities, and on our visit in June, we were seated with a full view of Cinderella castle. It just doesn't get much better than that!

I often think about catching a plane from San Jose to Orlando just to go to'Ohana for dinner. I have been to 'Ohana 5 times and over the years the side dishes and salads have changed as well as some of the skewers but has remained very good to excellent (except for the stir fried veggies they served a few years ago). It has alot of Polynesian atmosphere and the current salads and side dishes are really good. I don't eat shrimp but the friends and relatives that do have loved these. My favorites are the steak and expecially the pork. This last trip we were also seated behind the serving, grilling station nearer the bar and it is quieter but not as fun.

We were there in June and it was the best meal of our trip. The food was all great and there was plenty of it.

I think I'm going to go against the grain on this one.... this was not one of our favorite places - the food was ok (the pineapple and caramel was really good while the rest was fairly mediocre) and we really didn't get a good deal of interaction with any CM's, granted, we weren't dining with children, so that might have been part of it. I'd heard so many wonderful things about O'Hana, but it just didn't live up to it's reputation IMHO...

We loved it and we will be bringing friends this February. Good food. Great Atmosphere and pretty good cocktails.

What about the breakfast? That's where my sister tells me she has us booked for breakfast on October 17. Anything I should be aware of there? TIA!

I thought 'Ohana was just ok. I liked the appetizers, but the meat skewers were all rather dry. I'm not a huge meat eater, so maybe it appeals more to the serious carnivores out there. The pineapple and caramel sauce was really good.

We went to Ohana for the first time in May and LOVED it!! We were making some PS' when we were down there and the CM suggested it for a character breakfast. It was great!! We will be trying dinner in 2 1/2 weeks on our first night and can not wait!!

They had a parade around the restaurant and our server was super, really friendly and the food was great!!

Hope you enjoy!!

GO Hungry!

We made the mistake of going when we were not very hungry. Plus we had a pina colada before dinner. We felt like we offended the staff when we couldn't eat any of the meats offered. We were full after the salad and some appatizers.

Go Hungry! We felt like we missed out.

This has become somewhat of a tradition for us. The food is served family style. They start you out with tasty pineaple bread and a fruit cup. Then all you can eat mickey waffles, eggs and sausage. The food is always good and the characters are just plain fun. The kids love dancing around the restaurant with Mickey, Goofey and Chip and Dale in grass Skirts.

I get a smile on my face just thinging about the CMs saying a big "ALOOOOHAAA" to each table as they are sat. and seeing Cinderella's Castle in the distance is a nice way to start the day.

Have a great time. Sorry I sound over excited, it just happens to be one of our favorites. If your experience were only half what ours have been, I think you'll have a nice breakfast. :)

BTW - We'll be there (party of 10) for breakfast on the 15th of October :bounce:

We've only been to Ohana's for breakfast. We really liked their character breakfast. It featured Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale dressed in polynesian gear. We had a later ps time in late Nov. of last year and had loads of character interaction. All the characters visited us at least two times around and posed for as many pictures as we wanted and we had a group of six. We also were able to get a group shot of all the characters and my DH and DD. Dale even helped feed DD her bottle! It was so cute. Since we ate late the restaurant was not full at all. The characters also performed a "parade" around the restaurant with all the kids. The server cm's were very nice and food was served promptly and was nice and hot. The pineapple bread is awesome. If it wasn't for the fact that I like to try new character meals each visit, I would have booked this one again, but we have CRT and a Pooh lunch reserved this Nov.

Enjoy!

Concerning dinner---plenty of food, to be sure, but most of it rather ordinary. Place is loud and the "antics" got on my nerves.
Too many other good restaurants at WDW to bother with O'hana again---

Thanks for the info on the breakfasts everyone! I'm really excited about my trip. Like I said, this is where she's telling me we're going (these ressies were up to her)...she's been known to pull surprises, so who knows where we'll end up! I'll fill everyone in with a trip report after October 20! :p

I went with my just-turned-3 son back in February. He was too young to really participate in the games and activities, although he was invited to join. My guess is that next trip he might take part, and it did look like fun. Having the kids entertained would certainly make most parent's meals more enjoyable.

The food was fair to good, except for the meat, which was horribly overcooked. We were eating late, and this might have been a factor. But if I were to eat here again I would want to eat earlier. If the meat were to be so overcooked again, I would scratch this one off my list.

The other Polynesian restaurant has really great food and a terrible atmosphere. Certainly wish they could marry the two.

For us, Ohana was just Ok. Appitizers were good but meat was dry. Not enough hoops for the kids. It was Ok but it will not be one of our must go backs. For the amount of money we spent there I would much rater return to California Grill or Jiko.

Thanks, guys.

I'm still undecided. It sounds like opinions are mixed here, and for the money they're charging, it had better be fantastic.
