My brothers and I are planning a surprise birthday celebration for our mom. She'll be 75 in June and loves Las Vegas. We decided this would be a good place for all of us to meet up without her knowing about it. Anyway, since there will be 5 kids ranging from 4-15 in the group we want to stay at a resort that will cater more to their needs while allowing the adults to still have some fun. I've checked a lot of web sites and Mandalay Bay looks really nice and has a great pool. Also I like that you don't have to walk through the casino to get to everything. I'd really like to avoid doing that. Does anyone have opinions on it, especially with kids along? Thanks for your help.:D

Didn't have kids along, but Loved it there!
It is gorgeous....and yes, the pool area is the best!
The rooms are fantastic. Dining wonderful.
Only drawback is that it is on the end of the strip. Connected by tram to the Luxor and Excalibur....but a bit of a walk to most things.

I think the kids would love the pool area. The only thing was the sand on their beach was really hot as in we probably looked like the 3 stooges walking across it. Take sandels to the beach area. But we loved the lazy river, the wave pool and everything. They also had parrot shows in the lobby and live birds in the bird cages when the show wasn't going on.

I haven't been there, but my parents have. They went the first year it opened and loved it. Said the rooms were great and the pools are fantastic, there was even a lazy river when they went. I have heard it's still there.

Loved Mandalay Bay!!! Agree about the sand though. Need somthing on your feet. Water shoes or something. pool is amazing. My DD wanted to spend entire day at the pool.

Glad someone else thought it was hot. We mean really hot like I was jumping on beach chairs THAT HAD PEOPLE LAYING ON THEM because my feet were buring off. And its a big beach but you can't run across it to the water fast enough. I guess the sun is really hot there in the desert. We had to look hysterical!

Thanks for the info. We'll remember to bring the water shoes.

The only problem with mandalay bay is that it huge. I mean Huge. We went there in 2002 with my DS 6 and Mum 67 and dad 69. They found walking just round the hotel pretty hard going. It is at the end of the strip but there is a monorail link to both Luxor and Excalibur.

There are buses that go up and down the strip and they cater fro wheelchairs.

Pool as said above is the best. Only guest allowed in. The rooms have large marble bathrooms.

The shark exhibition is dear and overpriced for my liking.

We stayed at the Mirage...love it love it love it.

I love Vegas.
