Opinions on Mama Melrose

Because we could not get a couple of the restaurants we wanted, we finally settled on Mama Melrose. Will we be disappointed? Please help.

No. We went there last year and we thought it was fine. Service was a touch slow but not crawlingly slow, but who cares when its hot outside and you're inside where it's air conditioned sipping a nice, cool bevvie. The food was good, not great, but good. Some of us had the flatbread pizza and some had chicken parmesan. We'd go back again.

We have done it the last three years and have never had a bad meal. Is it gourmet--no, but it is definitely a step above Olive Garden. My DH has always enjoyed the chicken parmesan and I have had the four-cheese flatbread pizza two times and really liked it. I also love their calamari.

We've only been once and it was better than I expected it to be. The food was only average, but DH really liked his pizza and service was fine.

Overall it's not somewhere I would rush back to, but I would dine there again if neccessary.

DH was happy with his meal- I believe he had pork. DD5 loved the soup she got as an appetizer. I had the seafood fradiavolo, which I did not like. The sauce tasty funky and was a wierd shade of brown. If you are doing this to get the FDP and don't want the H&V buffet (we enjoyed this meal), and don't want to spend extra TS credits or $ on the Brown Derby, this is not a horrible option. I wouldn't go just for the food, though.

We actually thought it was one of the best meals we had in May. DS26 said his steak was the best of the trip. We had gone thinking we would make the best of it, but wound up making the best of the best.

Went for dinner in 06 and did not like it...just plain blah. We went for lunch last weekend, to get in out of the rain not our first choice, I am so glad we did. Great soup and salad, awesome bread and dip appetizer and a good flatbread

This restaurant has made significant improvements over the past two or three years. We ate there recently and absolutely loved it. I'd highly recommend it.

Trust me when I say......THE MAMA ROCKS!!! ::yes::

I think its still blah, and I personally wouldn't say its a step above Olive Garden. But then again, I had a craving for meatballs and they don't have them (weird for an italian restaurant).

We really liked Mama Melrose in April. I had Eggplant napoleon -- YUMMY !! A friend had the pork - he raved about it. Two of the kids had noodles w/ marinara -- they got a ton of it. The other two had the pizza. They liked it too.
I think the service was a bit slow ... we were in there almost 2 hours for 7 of us to eat.
Also -- we were bummed that bread didn't come with your meal ... what Italian restaurant doesn't serve bread??
Regardless, we'd eat there again.

We love Mama Melrose's:thumbsup2 We have eaten there a number of times and have never been disappointed. We had the best server:lovestruc in February and I even contacted the restaurant to let them know that she was so wonderful to my whole family. I am drawing a blank on her name at the moment but I will keep thinking:confused3

Has always been good at Mama's we love the food and service has always been great.Love the wood fired pizza's they serve here and the breads. It is on our must do list each trip to DHS.We have dined here over 20 times and will be going back next trip.:goodvibes :goodvibes Danny

We went to visit Mama Melrose last week and we all enjoyed our food, except for the Tiramisu, try the cheesecake, that was good. I had the pork, which I loved and my DH had the salmon, which he also enjoyed. My kids ate all of their food, so it must have been good!! In planning our next vacation, my DH told me to make sure I included Mama Melrose. I was skeptical too because it gets mixed reviews on these boards, but I am glad we went.

The last time we ate there was Oct. '07 and we really enjoyed it. The service was good and the food was wonderful. My only complaint is that bread is an appetizer and not complimentary like in most Italien restaurants. We were on the DDP and at that time we got an appetizer, entree and dessert so the bread wasn't an issue.

We are going to Mama Melrose's for a second time this upcoming trip. Last time, we went with 8 people. Everybody enjoyed it.

DH and I enjoy it there and go every trip. :goodvibes

McKelly- I agree about the Tiramisu and if we were doing the DDP this trip, I would opt for something else.

We've been there twice in the last two years and have enjoyed it both times. Strange thing was that we were seated at the same table with the same waitress both trips! Have fun!:thumbsup2

Went last year. The food was sub par and the service we got was terrible, so bad that we had to complain. :confused3

Like other people said, its good. Not great, but good. Nothing spectacular. It is worth going to especially for the Fantasmic package.
