I am thinking of making reservations for the Boardwalk Inn in June and wanted pool opinions. How deep is the pool?Does it get too crowded? How does it compare to Stormalong Bay and Swan-Dolphin Grotto pool?

I really like the Luna Park pool. I have stayed at the BC also and SAB is a great yet really big pool with some deep areas and stronger currents. Over all SAB is probably more impressive becasue of its size and zero depth sandy area for young kids but the Luna park pool has a great slide. I don't think it gets any deeper than 5 feet with most areas 4ft or less. I really don't feel I can comment on crowds becasue we go in January where crowds (especially pool crowds) are low. The bar at Luna is better. The first time we stayed at BW we thought we would really miss SAB but we did not.

I have never been at the Swan or Dolphins pool so can't compare.

we've never been to the swan/dolphin, so can't comment there.
however, both my kids, as well as my nephews, greatly prefer luna park over SAB. on seperate visits to the BC & SAB, they all asked to go back to the BW.:confused3
as PP said, SAB has quite a few "fun" parts. despite its size though, it has always been very crowded when we've gone ~ many guests go to the BC specifically for the pool. ("crowded" as in difficult to swim b/c you are literally touching other ppl, no chairs unless you are there upon opening, and extremelly loud).
SAB is definately worth a visit (especially during the colder months when it might be less crowded) ~ it is very pretty with interesting features that i don't think can truly be appreciated with too many people.
btw, we've gone to BW at the same time of year, & have had no problems finding chairs/tables, the kids were able to repeatedly use the "scary clown" ;) slide (which they love), & actually swim about the pool freely :thumbsup2 .
btw, both resorts also have beautiful "quiet" pools without a slide, but imho, very enjoyable if you want some quiet time & swimming.
hth :)

We at the BWI last summer and my boys loved the pool and slide. We have never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin so I cannot comment on there pool.

Thanks to all for your help.Does anyone remember if pool is around 5-6 feet or one of Disneys newer shallow pools

We just stayed at BWV Dec 29, 30 & 31st. Supposidly this is the busiest time of year and we didnt feel the Luna Park pool was overly crowded (I think everyone must have been at the parks :thumbsup2

Im thinking it was never over my head and Im 5'4. I did have to stand on tip toes in a few places.

The kids did love this slide!

The pool at the dolphin is very nice. large water fall, hot tub, kids pool and lap pool all in one area. plenty of room and a cool slide. The wide waterfall alone is worth it.

There is no looming, jeering clown at the S/D or SAB, in my book that makes either one super!

BTW, we were @ BCV last week of Jan thru 2 Feb and SAB was fine early on or later but my oh! my otherwise hopping & they were checking ID bracelets

i wont ever go to the luna park pool again. the clowns eyes actually followed me around the pool. that thing is haunted, if you ask me.

The slide has always been a huge hit with my kids. And, I've got to confess, I get a kick out of it too!

I think the pool area is very hotel-ish, less tropical and relaxing than other pools I've been at.

But then again, I don't really go for the swimming/sliding part. I like to hang out under a palm tree, sipping something out of a pineapple.

That clown was far too freaky fpr me to enjoy the pool! I get creeped out just thinking about it.

When we stayed at the BWI during a hot July, the Luna Park pool was packed during the day. All the chairs were occupied and the slide had several people in line at all times. However, the quiet pools were very nice with few guests. My kids are completely satisfied with the quiet pools although they love the clown slide. I prefer the quiet pools. During an October stay, the Luna Park pool was crowd free and we never had to visit the quiet pools.

Can't comment on Luna Park, as I've only seen pics, never stayed there. But SAB can't really be beat IMHO. It's like a mini-water park and even when there's lots of people there it doesn't feel crowded, although sometime finding a chair in a prime spot is an issue. The grotto pool at the Swan/Dolphin is lovely, relaxing and better than many WDW pools IMHO. There is a waterfall with a recessed cave (grotto) area behind it that is really cool. My kids loved the big waterfall. The pool is very large and there was never more than 20 people there whenever we used it. Either one of these pool areas were fabulous for our family:thumbsup2
