We just booked the June 11, 2021, Italy/Greece cruise in the guaranteed 06A category. It looks like that is a veranda room, aft, deck 6 or 7, with solid railing. What are those rooms like? The other option is to change to an outside stateroom, with porthole, near the forward of the ship. We have always had a veranda, and would have been on the first floor with two small portholes had we sailed Italy/Greece this summer. We love our veranda I am really looking forward to it, but I am a bit nervous about being aft for the first time.

It has been a good day. First, Disney gave us back our deposit for this summer's cruise, which we weren't expecting since we canceled before they did. Second, Delta changed our flight for June, resulting in a 100% refund, plus a refund of the miles I had used to upgrade us to first class. Worked out perfectly.

Usually stay aft when sailing on the Magic, never an issue.

Great, thanks for replying! The difference between the guaranteed room and the remaining veranda rooms was about $1500+, so I think it is worth trying.

The solid railing rooms aren't usually too much of a deterrent in my mind. I pretty much exclusively travel Guarantee rooms with DCL and have encountered them once or twice. If you are travelling with kids it can be hard for them to see out, but honestly, they offer a bit more privacy which is nice. For a 1500 dollar savings, its definitely worth a go.

I have been told with European Itineraries you are out of the room/off the ship a lot so it won't make a huge difference.

Thanks! Both children are teenagers, so the railing won't be an issue, other than not seeing out when we are sitting down. We will only have two sea days, and full itineraries on non-sea days, so we won't use it as much as usual. But, it will still give us the ability to get fresh air in the room and step outside if I am waiting for the ladies to get ready for the day, which makes the wait much more enjoyable. I love to be able to look around without going on deck. I think being in the aft with the balcony is probably better than being closer to mid-ship with a porthole. At least I hope.

Seasickness hasn't been a major issue for us with a little Bonine, so my only real concern is if it is much nosier when sleeping. Any experience with noise versus non-aft rooms?

I don't usually have issues with noise Aft vs. Mid. Vs. Front of the ship. Aft you will normally feel ship vibrations a tiny bit more. With the Magic its not super noticeable in the aft cabins on Decks 6/7. (It is on 3 in Rapunzels, but thats a different story).

Everything in that area is cabins so I wouldn't worry too much about noise and what not.
