Can anyone give me recommendations for golf courses in the Disney/Orlando area? We'll be staying on WDW property but my husband doesn't want to pay Disney prices for Disney golf courses. In his opinion they aren't worth the cost.
Any suggestions? :goodvibes Thanks in advance.

There are some good courses just south of Disney. Falcon's Fire, Champion's Gate and Celebration Golf course were all really good courses.

Hi, depends a lot on when you go. Prices vary so much by season. Also, to be honest, how good a player your spouse is has a lot to do with a recommendation.

For a good golfer...under 15 handicap I would recommend the following
in order of great course, off Disney Property

1 Mystic Dunes...just of Disney on Old Lake Wilson Rd...
2. Celebration, on 192
3. Southern Dunes (LESS $$) but a 25 minute drive south on 27 to Haines City
4 Champions Gate not the International...this is a very very hot golf course in the summer. Flat and only few trees

Less Money...nice course is The Legends north on 27 about 15 mintes from Disney off 192 west.
Players Club in Clermont, just 5 miles north of The Legends.

Falcon's Fire is very pretty, but most golfers I know in the area love Mystic Dunes...great layout, clubhouse, free driving range...incredible greens

all the best..Ted

I live on the 10th fairway at Legends. DH likes the course a lot, and it's much less expensive than most of the others in the area.

Thanks to everyone, I appreciate the info. My husband is an average golfer, but I'm sure he'd be happier playing on the more challenging courses.
We'll be there mid-September, and I know it will be blazing hot. :sunny: He's hoping to make early AM tee times.
And he's also hoping to find golf courses for $50. I've heard that might be hard to come by. Are there any coupons or something like that we might be able to find in the local newspaper?

Legends would fit his budget--maybe a few dollars over with the cart rental--if he can pair up and split it it's under his budget.

Hi, I agree...for about $50 Legends would be nice...

Actually, I checked www.teetimesusa.com and they had Mystic Dunes in September for about 55.00. This would be very close to Disney, save your spouse about 25 minute drive and be an excellent course..Take my advice and tell him to play the white tees. It is about 6000 yards but the course is a par 71 so there are only 3 par fives and they are fairly short...so long fun par fours and the white tees will be all he wants...(I think he will understand what I just said). Tee Times USA will let him book right on line, but if would rather wait I am sure the rates will be in that range...also almost every tourist book in the restaurants has a golf section with coupons. One of the reasons people like MDunes is the state of the art GPS system that even tells you how far your drive went. Huge free driving range also...If he chooses MDunes, call the club house for directions...do not trust the hotel to be accurate!!! Easy to find, but it is in Wyndam Palms Resort so the sign for Mystic Dunes is pretty small compared to the huge huge fountain entrance to Wyndam Palms!

By the way, all the courses mentioned are very very nice...I just hear from lots of folks that Mystic Dunes is their favorite...it is $150/round in January, so the Sept rate is a great deal...

Good Luck...Ted
