What do y'all think of these? I thought I'd get some for my DDs for the trip. But are they worth the hassle? I assume CM make change using real money, not disney dollars?

Since my girls are young I thought I'd get 20 single disney dollar bills for each and make them feel rich. . .Of course, that means yet another trip to the Disney Store. . .:thumbsup2

Has anyone really used these with their kiddos? Is it worth the trouble?

We've given our kids Disney Dollars on everyone of our trips. We start a few months before and instead of regular money for allowance/chores/tooth fairy/etc we do Disney Dollars. It forces them to save the money for the trip since it can't be used anywhere else anyway and they're just fun, too. And yes, change is made in regular money.

We buy them at the Disney Store. Last time we used them for spending money. Even small carts that can't take room charges can take disney dollars because they're used just like cash.

Thanks, sorry to hijack this thread, but do they have an expiration date as we are not planning our trip til 2008.

We also purchase them for all of our kids for their spending money for the trip. They just LOVE them!

I don't see how Disney Dollars are "trouble" to have and use.

You can get them in advance at a local Disney Store, but you can also just buy them at WDW. It's no more trouble than taking a $20 bill and going to a bank or your hotel's front desk and asking for 20 $1 bills.

When you make purchases with ANY denomination, change is provided in U.S. currency.

I just think it makes it fun for the kids. Mine have loved it. They each have a certain amount, and I keep them in labeled envelopes. That way, they havea tangible way of knowing how much they have left to spend. The first time we went, our 2.5 year old didn;t fully get it, but our 5 year old sure did!

Disney Dollars never expire. NEVER.

we used them and loved it...we got some special editions one with Aurora and Ariel on them, I am even had ariel sign one for the scrapbook!! :) I was told they would have pirate ones soon as well!!!! I want one of those!!

No problem. I love your question!

Thanks all for your comments. My DH doesn't think it is worth getting them in advance and paying for chores. (My little ones have chores, but no allowance yet and I want to use it as a behavior reinforcer.) He would rather collect quarters for them. I also like the idea of lots of the bills in small denominations so they feel like they have a lot, can count it, and will have some left after a few purchases instead of regular cash.

Thanks!

I understand the dilemma. Last trip I drove one hour each way to our nearest Disney store. I really felt both kids needed Disney Dollars. DSS didn't care at all, not sure he even noticed. Didn't matter to him whether it was Disney dollars or regular dollars, money is money. DSD was 4 for that trip. She thought the pictures on the money were cute but wasn't overly impressed by the idea. I don't think she looked at them as real money. (probably the reason she still has some left, floating around in her room somewhere). Needless to say, this trip I will not be getting Disney Dollars for the little darlings, as they know the money in their banks is real money that they had to earn.
