Opinions on Coral Reef

I am chagrined to hear that CR perhaps has lost its mojo. When we visited last April, the food, service, and ambience were all quite good. It wasn't quite up to par with, say, Artist Point, but it was very good, nonetheless. In fact, our service was superb for our 6 p.m. ADR. Both our meals were plated nicely; both were done as expected; and our desserts were topnotch. My only complaint was that our bottle of shiraz was served current room temp (72-74F?) vice cellar room temperature. But, that was a minor annoyance. I will say that CR seems to be one of those real "hit or miss" places, however. :paw:

DH & I thought our dinner at the Coral Reef was one of the best meals we had at WDW!! Our server was excellent-we were celebrating both DH & DDs' birthdays and they treated us very well!! When we started talking about ADRs for our next trip, we all agreed that Coral Reef is a MUST DO for our family.

That being said, we didn't try LeCellier and that's also on our list for the next trip! :rotfl2: :cool1:

We just went this weekend, I do plan on doing a review on it for once, but it was hands down the *worst* experience we've ever had at Disney. Edit: I don't say this lightly, either. We're very easy-going and understand a lot can go wrong in restaurants/stores/etc, and we've had very very few times when we say we've had a bad experience at Disney.

My fiance and I ordered filet, and we were brought 4oz portions of sirloin, not filet. My friend ordered the shrimp dish, and the odor nauseated her, but she ate it anyway since we were running late (we were seated 30 min late, though we were there over 40 min early). We expected some kind of nice plating for the money we spent, but our food looked like it was unceremoniously plopped on the plates.

Service was poor, the atmosphere was like a character dinner, and we can't believe we spent the money we did. We were going into this expecting a good time, since we had recently been for lunch and enjoyed it. We noticed when we were coming in, many other people were leaving looking angry and I was wondering why. Now I know - the transition to a 1 credit restaurant quality has already happened.

We agree, extremely small portions, the decor is awful and if you are not seated near the fish tank the kids are restless.
