I have been researching this camera and it appears to be a great camera but am interested in your opinions. I have bought TOO many things that I am disappointed afterwards and this camera is not cheap. Please Help!!!!

Great camera? YES
Worth its high price? NOT in my opinion.

In the days where one can buy a DSLR for under $400, I can not see paying $450 for a camera that has a sensor many times smaller.

The Canon PowerShot G9 is a solid enthusiast digital camera for those who want something compact to complement a dSLR.
The good: This digital camera has a cornucopia of features; it's zippy and built like a tank.
I find this at a review, you can have a look:

Personally, i think, Canon PowerShot G9 is a nice camera.. I find that a decent deal for it is only $429.

I got one for Christmas and I love it!! I can take it anywhere; it takes really nice videos with good sound and anything under ISO 800 has reasonable noise that is manageable with noise reduction software (or in ACR). It shoots RAW, which I insist on any of my cameras. There is nothing I don't like about it. I have not used it at night, but that's okay because that isn't why I bought it. On our next trip to WDW, it might be the only camera I take, leaving the beast (1Ds MkII) behind since I'm not at WDW to do photography (:scared1: I know that is sacrilegious on this board but since I make my money doing photography, I like to take a bit of a break from it from time to time!)

Go to the local camera store and try one out.

I tried for a couple of days, and loved the picture quality. But I hated the 36mm equivalent wide end. If it had a 28mm equivalent, I'd still have it.

Sure. For my own uses for it, I reckoned that if I were carrying a wide angle adapter around for it, I might as well just use the dSLR!

I definitely don't know much about photography! So, what does this mean; 36mm versus 28mm?? I really need to learn more; I can take a picture and video but that is about it!!:confused3
