Opinions on baby names

 It's funny how the same name can evoke different pictures in different minds. I never even thought of that allusion to Charlie. I was thinking of the cute little girl from "Good luck Charlie" on Family Channel (my dds watch it all the time). If that's what it reminds you of, I see your point. :)

Yep, I remember Top Gun, saw it more times than I care to admit, but I have a younger kid and he watches Good Luck Charlie, I have gotten hooked on that show, so this is what I thought of.

I like Maria and Michael the best.

I cannot stand the name Henry. I just hate it. No good reason to hate it, I just do.

I think Charlotte is a good name, but I like Maria more. I especally like little girls with the nickname Charlie! My cat is named Charlie, so Charles and Charlotte are out as baby names for me

Here's SSAs 2009 name data: http://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/
This website is totally addicting to play around with -- it has so much information.

I like michael and Charlotte. I like the idea of using the names as middle names. Michael henry Darcy sounds great. I think Charlotte marie sounds better than Charlotte maria.

How about Brian?? Brian henry:thumbsup2 I'm still mad that I didn't name my son Brian so I'm pushin it on other people, lol1

I have a Michael and I love the name. He is 23 so it was the #1 name when he was born but honestly we never knew that many other Michaels. At times he may have had 1 other in his class at school but not that often.
I also have a Matthew and the same holds true for him.

Maria and Michael. Definitely.

Agreed. I really dislike Henry - it's always seemed like a weak name to me where Michael is a strong name.

Maria and Charlotte I'm more neutral on, but not a big fan of Charlotte.

Maria and Michael for me too!! :thumbsup2

Or using these as a middle name...

Anna Maria Darcy

Joseph Michael Darcy

I like the more classic names that flow, as you seem too. :goodvibes

I like either of the girls names equally but would choose Henry over Michael any day. I have known four Michaels in my life and they were all quite awful. I'm sure they aren't ALL awful, there must be a few good Michaels somewhere but...I just wouldn't risk it if I were naming a son ;)

I have a very good husband named Michael. ;-) I also have a Michael in my preschool who is very sweet.

I really like all four names. If I were forced to pick, I'd say Charlotte and Henry. (Michael is so common that he'd probably always be referred to as Michael <last name> like my Matthew.)

I LOVE the name Henry! Unfortunately, I don't like the way it sounds with our last name so I haven't been able to name any of our boys that :(

Charlotte is a pretty name, it's gaining a lot of popularity right now--so depending on your view of "popular names" that could either be a positive or a negative.

I really like Maria, especially because it is a varient of a name that has personal significance to me :)

Michael is also a nice name, but again, it is very popular...

So, my two favorites would be Maria and Henry :)

Good luck!

Charlotte and Henry

If you are trying to pick a baby name then it would also depend on how the name flowed with the last name. When we were expecting DS3 we had a name picked out that we loved but it just didn't work with our last name so we chose something else.

:thumbsup2 ITA! When we chose both DS and DD's first and middle names, I yelled the three-name combination as though I was angry. If was going to have to use it like that, I wanted to be sure it rolled off my tongue well! :lmao:

Maria and Michael.. :)

However, you have to make sure that it sounds good with the last name - and you don't give them a middle name that would make for less than attractive initials..;)

Is this for you? If so, congrats!! :goodvibes

:thumbsup2 Dh wanted to name dd2 Luke if she was a boy.. I nixed it because it didn't wasn't a good "yelling" name.. Dh's middle name is Henry he's never liked it and the trend his family set was for boys to name their boys what their middle name was.. he nixed Henry right off the bat for us.. he's never liked it at all..

I like classic but not terribly popular names, so Charlotte and Henry for me.

Michael is too popular and I'd go with Mary over Maria.

I would say based on your last name I prefer Charlotte Darcy and Michael Darcy.

How about Charlotte Maria Darcy and Michael Henry Darcy?

I'm probably going to get laughed at (that's ok, DH laughs at me too on this), but I'm not pregnant yet. Hopefully by next month I'll have an announcement.:goodvibes

I won't laugh. I knew what I was going to name my older DD before I was even married. The second one was also pretty much decided before I was pregnant (but it was not finalized until she was born).
