Opinions on baby names

I had my first dd's name picked out in 9th grade. She has always been Abby since I peed on that first stick.. even before I knew she was a girl for sure.

Charlotte and Michael.

Well, my son is Henry, so clearly that would be my pick. He's the only Henry around in AZ, but when we lived in DC we knew a ton of Henrys. So I guess it's a regional name? FWIW, we named him after my father, so he was getting that name regardless of popularity.

And for a girl, well, I have a Scarlett, so I would go with Charlotte cause clearly I like that sound! We considered Charlotte for her, actually, but knew a bunch of babies born shortly before her named Charlotte, and my son had 2 in his preschool class. So we picked Scarlett, which sounds similar, but is less common. Of course, now I spend my time spelling it for people cause they all think it's Charlotte!

I have a Michael, so obviously, that would be my pick! For a girl , I like Charlotte.

All great names. I personally prefer Charlotte and Michael.

Michael may be up there in popularity on the name lists, but I can only think of one I know under the age of 20, so it may be regional. In my kids school, it's the Jacobs, Matthews, Aidens, Cadens and Joshuas that always need to use their last initial. Although I like Henry, I don't really like the way it sounds with your last name.

Good luck!

I don't really care for any of them but if I HAD to choose one I'd choose Michael because it sounds the least old fashioned.

Please choose a girls name and a boys name that you like.:goodvibes

Maria

Charlotte

Michael

Henry

From the names you have listed I say Charlotte and Henry and I actually like all of the names on your list. I'll also give you my favorite names Jack Ben and Emma..those are my three little ones :)

I just want to point out the obvious and say you're putting a whole lot of personal information out here....:rolleyes1 You've got your first, your husbands first, your last name and where you live posted.

I will be more careful from now on.

I love, love, love Charlotte!!

I once had a doll I named Charlotte. The doll is still at my parents' house. Recently, my DD was over there playing & found my old doll. When I came to pick her up, she told me that she had played with my doll &, if it was okay, she had named her. I asked her what she named her, & she replied, "Charlotte." I had never told her that I had a doll named Charlotte!

Anyway, if we ever have another little girl, she will probably be named Charlotte or Claire (or maybe Kimberly).

Between Henry & Michael, I like Michael.

DH & I like classic names too - our children are Elizabeth, Christopher, & Nicholas.

They're all lovely names. "Maria" makes me think of Maria Von Trapp and The Sound of Music (a good thing, btw) and the other names I like for personal/family reasons. I think Maria and Michael would sound best with your last name.

Whatever you decide, congratulations and all the best to you.

I never thought it would do me any harm to post these things. This is the only message forum I post on and everyone seems so nice, not threatening in any way. But I just asked my DH what he thought of your post and he agrees with you. Needless to say I'm in a smidgen of trouble with him. He asked me to remove his name, photo and where we live. He's a military officer and we are suppose to follow OPSEC rules, and I just used poor judgement. I will be more careful from now on.

Will you please delete my husband's name from your other quote?

Officer's wife here as well but probably just a tad older I believe. I would actually remove the tag you wrote about being an officer's wife if it were me. It is one thing to mention it in a post once in awhile but to have it out there attached to every post you make is another. You can always say something about being a proud USMC wife or proud to be married to your Marine! :) We can all understand you being proud of your DH and his service.

Most of the posters on the DIS are friendly but they aren't the only ones who READ the site and glean information. That's where OPSEC comes in.

DH and I are currently expecting and if the little bug turns out to be a girl the name will be Charlotte Maria. :lmao: Charlotte is the only girl name we agreed upon and Maria has been carried as a middle name by every female in my family for 4 generations.

For your boy names I like Henry better.

I love, love , love the name Henry Darcy! :lovestruc It does sound very Jane Austen.
Charlotte is sweet. I went to school with an angel faced, ringlet haired Charlotte.
