Hey everyone!! I have just a brief opinion poll to take:

-I'm currently with Verizon and can not *STAND* them any longer esp.their phones they are all crap!:( boo!
-My boyfriend got an iPhone a couple months back and loves it and I got into it as well esp.having a iTouch already!
-I now want to switch to AT&T but I've been with Verizon for over 15years and I want to know about the service(calls, dropping calls, bars etc)...

The only thing I can say about Verizon is that they have good reception and I'm worried I'll be highly disappointed with AT&T reception.

I'm located outside Philadelphia,PA in a suburb and I mainly am concern about the reception and service on the East Coast esp in PA,NY(when we go to visit) and of course Florida esp. Orlando/Disney.

I'll take anyone's feelings/opinion on whomever has AT&T/and or/ the iPhone..

I would greatly appreciate it! I'm switching soon I just wanted to get some Dis-ers opinions:)

THANKS EVERYONE!!!!:smickey:

DH & I want an iphone as well, however we used to have AT&T cell service and hated it. We have verizon now also. We're hoping that the rumor of iphone maybe possibly being available for verizon in june will happen. If so, we're getting iphones. otherwise we may look into the droid and stay w/verizon.

Philly Suburbs here too. I love my I-phone. I really have no problems with ATT, although I always hear people hate it.

We have iPhones w/ AT&T. We live in Nashville, TN and have had no problems with service in our home or around the city. We are driving to WDW in March so I will be anxious to see how the coverage is around Disney, as well as the more rural areas of Tennessee/Georgia/Florida that we drive through.

I've never had a problem with AT&T service dropping calls or anything (except in our house, but that is because of the radiant barrier). I have multiple friends with iPhones around the area and none of them have problems either.

I've had ATT forever now (it seems). Never had an issue with it either when we lived in FL (Miami and Orlando) or in KY. As far as travels, I had no issue in DC or Boston. The only place that I lost service for a little while was in the mountains of WV

In South NJ, I have an iPod (Christmas gift from the Mrs.) and have had ATT for years. I have no issues with the phone or the service in those same areas you mentioned! Enjoy!

I have an iphone and hate the AT&T service. I lose at least two calls a day. My friends are just so used to it now.

This happens when I am in New Orleans, Little Rock, Orlando, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Minneapolis, etc. I have not been anyplace where this does not happen.

But the thing I hate the most about AT&T is that I cannot have two area codes. I was promised that when I got the iphone, but they lied. So I now have a second line that I have NO use for.

Got an iPhone very recently. I live in suburbs of Philly. Only 2 calls received on it so far, one of which was dropped. Still trying to be optimistic though!

I live in southern NJ, have had AT&T for quite a while now, and have an iphone. I love my phone and have no problems with my service at all.

Sounds good thanks! Jersey was another area I was wondering because my bf and I go to the shore-Atlantic City etc.

I mean ive seen my boyfriend have no problems at all so far.. just a dropped call here and there but I wanted to get an overview of a larger area!:) thanks so much for your input..

Well I disagree that Verizon phones are crap, I've had at least 6 Verizon phones and they weren't crap. :) But I'd hold off on switching, see if the rumor that the IPhone will be available thru Verizon is true and then just stay with Verizon and get your IPhone. My BFF has AT&T, I have Verizon, her phone is always dropping calls and mine does not. We did a test once, walked thru the mall side by side on our phones with each other to see who's phone would drop more calls. Hers won by a landslide, and that's not a good thing in this case. LOL

Great phone, slow network. I am pretty sure Verizon is getting it soon. I would wait it out, not to mention the might start a price war which could help you save some money.

Get the iPhone. You simply won't regret it.

What people seem to completely miss is that the iPhone is so, so, so much more than a phone! It truly is the internet in your pocket, and an electronic swiss army knife.

Here's a good one for you: you are in your car, you hear a song that you like, but don't know who the artist is. Touch "Shazam," then the next thing you know, you see the album cover, the artist, the song name, and much more. POOF!

I was one of those "first-day people." I paid $699 for my 1st gen. phone, and STILL think it was a hell of a deal. Now, I will say that where I live (Charlotte, NC) AT&T has nowhere near as good a coverage as Verizon... but that is just here.

Rumors of VZW being able to offer the iPhone have been going on ever since they had the first crack at it and declined (want to wager if those execs still work there???). Although it may happen at some point down the road, don't waste your time or hold your breath.

I hope this is of some help to you!

Best regards,

Slippy

PS: The WDW apps that are available for it are really cool, such as the dining one, and the GPS-enabled maps of the parks.

we actually have both - dh has verizon & I have At&t . I have tons of dropped calls on AT&T almost daily - though they are pretty predicatable now. I can tell you where I'll be - or where my mom will be when one of us drops. I can't remember when dh has had a dropped call on Verizon.

texting as been a huge issue for us - they don't go thru promptly on AT&T - it sometimes banks them & sends them later - don't know why - but if you're trying to text someone something important like come get me - meet me here like I was trying last week it was a bit of a problem.

I do not have an Iphone

I have had AT&T forever and never had any problems.

I see that Apple is teaming up with AT&T again for its new iPad. (see below from abcnews.com) Do you really think Apple would go with AT&T again if their service was so horrible? PS - Don’t believe the “cute” Verizon map commercials either ..all smoke and mirrors .

“The basic iPad models will cost $499, $599 and $699, depending on the storage size, when it comes out worldwide in March.

Apple Inc. will also sell a version with data plans from AT&T Inc. in the U.S.: $14.99 per month for 250 megabytes of data, or $29.99 for unlimited usage. Neither will require a long-term service contract.

The iPad models that can connect to AT&T's wireless network will cost more — $629, $729 and $829, depending on the amount of memory — and will be out in April. International cellular data details have not yet been announced.”

My husband has AT&T for his work phone, and our personal phones are through Verizon. He is always dropping calls and often can't even get service when our personal phones have great coverage. In our area, at least, Verizon coverage is much better than AT&T. I'm sure that varies throughout the country, though, so maybe your area is better.

I've wanted an iPhone since they were announced but I wasn't willing to leave Verizon in order to get it. Once the exclusive deal with AT&T runs out, it seems likely that Verizon will get the iPhone at some point. I'm not sure what I will do then, though - I love my Droid. Many of the most popular apps that are available for iPhone (including Shazam) are also available for the Droid, and the Android marketplace is growing all the time.

Regarding the "Smoke and mirrors" comment about Verizon's Map ads, I think part of the problem is that those ads and the AT&T ads are talking about two different things. Verizon's maps are showing areas where they (and AT&T) have 3G coverage. AT&T's ads show the areas where they have any coverage, not just 3G. I'm sure AT&T is great in some areas, and I know the iPhone is great. But most of the techie people I know who have iPhones and rely heavily on their cell phones actually have back-up phones through another carrier for the times when they can't get coverage through AT&T. (Or they just have jailbroken iPhones through another carrier!) That makes me a little leery of relying on Verizon for my only cell phone!

as a PP mentioned - the ads are not smoke and mirrors. AT&T would like you to think so, but they lost the lawsuit to Verizon over those commercials because there is nothing thats not true. Verizons ads show3G coverage - which ATT is severely lacking. Yes the slower "edge" network for att covers a lot of area, but Verizon was specifically comparing the faster 3G coverage.

After they turned down apple in the fist place, apple went to ATT and they signed an EXCLUSIVE agreement, which is up in June. So even if Verizon wanted to have it now, they cant. But they are indeed in talks with Apple still on a device to run on the Verizon cdma network - once the exclusive contract with ATT is up.

This is very good to know. I was contemplating getting a new phone the end of the summer. I want the iphone but don't want to leave Verizon. Hmmm. I may get one after all. :woohoo: :woohoo: And DD will be psyched because I promised her my ENV2 if I get a new phone.
