My Husband & I are considering buying into SSR thru the Timeshare store at $80/point for 200 points. Our main reason for doing this is it is the cheapest available and we would be able to buy more points. We normally vacation in Disney in September; we are due to have our 1st child this month, and plan on continuing to vacation in Disney during off-season for at least 6 yrs, until our 1st child is school-age, however, we most likely would not hesitate in taking our child out of elementary school as our parents did with us. SSR would definitely not be our 1st choice in where to stay, but we would not be heart broken if we could not reserve anywhere else. We are just wondering if we are planning on using the DVC in September, do we have a good chance at getting into one of the other resorts like AKV, BCV, & BWV?

Also, do DVC members receive discounts on park passes?

Thanks in advance for any replies! :cool1:

Hi!
September is a slow month for DVC use, and you probably would be able to book one of the other resorts at 7 months out.
I think you should look at this thread:

Because, "cheaper," could just mean that Disney will buy it because it's priced too low. All sales of DVC have to go before Disney, and it reserves the Right of First Refusal. That thread has been going on for a long while and it tells what prices Passed ROFR and which were bought by Disney.

Best wishes to you as you make your decision!

Yup...at the moment DVC members can buy Annual Passes at a significant savings..like $75 -$100+ dollars depending on which AP you buy! :)

I don't think SSR will pass ROFR at $80. that is $14 under the current promo price and $24 per point under rack rate. I could be wrong but I'd make sure before going for it. You won't loose any money but you will have wasted your time if your contract gets bought by Disney.

What is the Use Year of the contract? It sounds like you would be best served with an August or September use year...

The use year would be August. We are aware it may be bought by Disney, but we figured we would try anyway. The man we spoke to at the Timeshare Store said there is no rhyme or reason to what Disney has been purchasing. I will definitely take a look at the thread! Thanks for the quick replies!

Question, one poster mentioned the Use year and I am just wondering about the specifics of this...This is all very confusing! ha!

Use year actually means the month of the year in which you receive your points. If you have a September use year, you will receive your 2007 points on Sept. 1st to use until August 31st 2008. The key factor in your use year is if you should ever cancel a reservation. I have never needed to do this and may need correcting, but I believe if you cancel your trip within less than 30 days, your points go into a holding account and you need to use them within their use year. You cannot bank them into the following year. If you have an August use year, and plan on Sept. 2007 travel, then you would have until July 31st of 2008 to reschedule your trip. If your use year is October, you only have until October 2007 to reschedule.
