I currently have plans to stay at CBR but found out that the resort will be closed at that time. Isn't it nice that Disney allowed me to make reservations for a closed resort??

I'm nervous about waiting for Disney to contact me and "assign" a resort to me, so I may take the bull by the horns and just switch to POR.

I've never stayed there, so I know nothing about this resort.

Can anyone give me some recommendations as to room location? Also, the mansion rooms look considerably brighter than the other rooms. Is this true?

THANKS

Hi Kim

We stayed at POR last May. Had a wonderful time. The resort is absolutely beautiful. Lush trees and vegetation. There were rabbits, chipmunks and plenty of ducks waddling around. We stayed in Alligator Bayou bldg 14 or 15, I can't remember. We were water view and it was beautiful. 5 minute walk to the main pool and the food courts.

We found the food courts to be very good. Decent selection to choose from. We loved the pool and the hot tub.

We rented the surrey bikes and rode around the mansion section. It was like being in a plantation in the south. Absolutely gorgeous. Also did the boat ride to DD. What a nice time.

I would recommend this resort to anyone. It was our first stay onsite, and didn't let us down one bit.

Good luck

We have stayed at Port Orleans Riverside three times (7 days 6/01, Labor Day weekend 01, and 5 days 7/02). We have stayed in both Alligator Bayou and the Manor Houses. We love the resort. You will enjoy it.

Hey Kim&Chris,

We stayed at POR a few years ago. The resort is beautiful. We satyed in the mansions and had requested a building close the food court. He got a beautiful view of the river facing the main area. We really had a great time there.

The food court is large, and the only thing that I didn't like was that sometimes in the morning, the line to pay for the food was long. Mornings were the only time the food court was really crowded. I expected that since most people do eat at the resort before heading off the the parks. We never had a problem getting a table tho. There were planty of them, even during the morning rush. And the bakery is awesome for a late night snack.

It's shame at CBR. We love that resort too.

Kim&Chris,

I am in the same boat as you are. Earlier this year, I made a res for CSR. Since CSR is not included in the discount, I changed to CBR. With the closure of CBR, I had to change my res to POR. On one hand, I am frustrated about having so many changes. On the other hand, I get to learn the pros and cons of almost all moderate resorts.

Although I have never stayed at any of the resort, I believe all resorts at Disney are equally nice and well maintained. The more I study about the resort, the more I like about it. So I believe you will feel the same.

Here are some pictures of POR that I found on the internet. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!!!
